Ibrahim Ali Khan, the 24-year-old star kid who made his debut on the silver screen recently with Nadaaniyan, is slowly carving his own place in Bollywood. Despite coming from a privileged family and having everything, the actor did not have the easiest time growing up. He was only around five years old when his parents, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, separated in a high-profile divorce, but his mother ensured that he and his sister, Sara Ali Khan, never had to feel the pain of coming from a broken home. Ibrahim recently opened up on how his parents’ split shaped his childhood and his views on relationships and family.
Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh tied the knot in 1991, and after 13 years of marriage, they parted ways in a high-profile divorce in 2004. During their marriage, they had two children, Sara and Ibrahim. At the time of their separation, both children were relatively young, with their younger one, Ibrahim, being only around four years old. In a heartfelt conversation with GQ India, when asked how the separation affected him, Ibrahim said:
“I was four or five years old, so I don’t remember much. It was probably different for Sara, as she was older. But my mom and dad have done a great job of ensuring I didn’t feel the pain that comes with a broken home. I never saw them lose their cool at each other. Some things are just not meant to be.”
Even though both his parents were public figures constantly under media scrutiny, Ibrahim credits them for keeping things peaceful at home. He feels grateful to have been able to shut the noise surrounding his parents’ split growing up, since there was no smartphone or social media. However, in the present scenario, things would have been much different. In his words:
“I’m so grateful that I had a childhood with no smartphone or social media. But if my parents had split up in 2025, things would have been very different.”
Today, Ibrahim sees his family as a beautiful blend rather than a broken past. His respect for both parents is evident, and he embraces the new additions to his life. After ending his long marriage with Amrita, Saif found love again in Kareena Kapoor Khan (Bebo), and after five years of courtship, they got married in 2012. Now, the couple is parents to two kids, Taimur and Jehangir, and both of them share loving bonds with their half-brother, Ibrahim, and half-sister, Sara. Talking about his father’s marriage to Kareena, Ibrahim remarked:
“Now my dad is much happier with Bebo [Kareena Kapoor], and I’ve got two very handsome and naughty brothers. And my mom is the best mother ever. She takes great care of me, and I live with her. It’s all good.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ibrahim Ali Khan is reportedly working on his next project, Diler, a sports drama co-starring Sreeleela. He is also set to star alongside Kajol in Sarzameen, directed by Boman Irani’s son, Kayoze Irani.
