Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda, is all set to make his theatrical debut with Ikkis. The movie has been directed by ace National Award-winning filmmaker, Sriram Raghavan. Agastya, aged 24, will play the role of Second Lieutenant Officer, Arun Khetarpal, who was the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. Arun was martyred at the mere age of 21 and received the honour posthumously for bravery in the Battle of Basantar, which took place during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
Agastya Nanda's Ikkis will be directed by Sriram Raghavan, and the makers have not yet locked on a release date. For Agastya, it is his first big screen debut after he made his acting debut with Netflix's romantic comedy, The Archies. As seen in the poster, it will be released in December 2025 at the cinemas. The makers showed Agastya as 'Officer Arun' in the second poster. In the intense poster, he was seen ready for the battle. Agastya as 'Arun' were seen in the Army uniform, looking crisp as well as sharp. The makers captioned the poster as:
"Woh Ikkis ka tha, Ikkis ka hi rahega. Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films present #Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, a true untold story of the youngest officer recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. In cinemas December 2025!"
The second poster of Ikkis was released on the birth anniversary of Arun, and when fans saw Agastya playing the role of the officer, their hearts melted. A user wrote, "Glad to be a part of this epic. Congratulations to the entire team." Another one shared, "All the very best to Agastya and the entire cast and crew members. Eagerly waiting." Fans have already declared the film a blockbuster, as one wrote, "All the best, Mr Agastya Nanda sir, and the movie will be a blockbuster." "Privileged to be part of a history of sorts in making. Creative excellence, passionate and inspirational journey. Congratulations to the Team Ikkis. More power to you all", wrote another fan of Ikkis. Fans of Agastya are waiting for him to play the role of 'Officer Arun' in the movie.
Ikkis is all set to showcase the sacrifice, courage and also the spirit of 'Officer Arun' who was martyred. Sriram, earlier in an interview with the PTI, shared that the movie will neither be a fictional version of the life of Khetarpal nor will it be simply heroic. It will showcase the event that took place 30 years after he was martyred. In his words:
"It is a bigger production; there will be tank battles and all those things that happen in a war film. But it is also a human story; it’s a drama, a coming-of-age kind of a thing."
Sriram, earlier in an interview with the Screen, also shared that the story of Ikkis was something he connected with and also liked the same. He shared that parts of the movie are very emotional and also have typical battle and action sequences. He shared his thoughts on trying to showcase Ikkis differently, and for him, it was a break from the kind of films he was making. For Sriram, Ikkis is a war and a drama film, and he made it so that next time when he creates a thriller, he feels fresh on the concept.
