Imran Khan is one of the most famous actors in Bollywood. After starting his career as a child artist in movies like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Imran debuted in Bollywood as an adult artist with his blockbuster movie, Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. Apart from these, the handsome actor treated his fans with some other movies such as Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, I Hate Love Storys, Ek Mai Aur Ekk Tu, and more. But it was in 2019 when Imran said goodbye to the Hindi film industry after his fallout with his estranged wife, Avantika Malik. But it has been a long time since Imran has been speculated to be making a comeback to the silver screens. Amid all these, a report has claimed that the actor is to make his much-awaited comeback with a spy drama action series.
A report by Pinkvilla claimed that a source close to the handsome actor, Imran Khan revealed that the actor is in advance talks with his debut movie director, Abbas Tyrewala, for an upcoming project. The source also revealed that Imran is teaming up with Tyrewala for a spy drama action series.

As per the source, the actor and the director have been talking about the same for a while now, and things are progressing positively. Interestingly, Imran won't be seen as a chocolate boy on the silver screen this time. Instead, he will be playing the role of an intelligence officer for the action series for a leading platform. The source can be quoted as saying:
"Imran Khan is brimming with energy as he gears up to step back onto the set and is in advanced talks with Abbas Tyrewala for a spy action drama series. Imran made his acting debut with Tyrewala’s cult youth classic, Jaane Tu… Ya Jane Na, and is teaming up with the director again to embark on a new phase in his career. They have been discussing this project for a while now, and things are progressing positively. And contrary to what everyone might be expecting, Imran won’t be reprising the role of a chocolate boy this time. Instead, he will be seen playing the age-appropriate role of an intelligence officer in this yet-untitled show for a leading OTT platform."
As per the report, the project is in its pre-production stage now, and it will be under the production of Roy Kapur films, while Abbas Tyrewala will serve as the writer. The report has also stated that the series will be on screen by the end of this year and Imran, who is really excited to play the role of a spy, has gone through a massive physical transformation for the same.
It was back on August 1, 2023, when a netizen commented on Zeenat Aman's post on her new commercial for a fintech brand by demanding the comeback of Imran. The user wrote, "Zeenat ji ne bhi comeback karlia, patani mera @imrankhan kab karega." To this, Imran gave a reply by saying that if his comment got 1M likes, he would make a comeback.

Soon after, on August 10, 2023, Imran posted a screenshot of his message on Thread, wherein he confirmed that he would make a comeback and revealed that he was working on it. To this, a fan demanded that he wants the sequel of Imran's film, Luck. The actor's message could be read as:
"To whom it may concern, I hear you, and I'm working on it. Thank you for being so patient with me."
