Imran Khan Reveals How He Came Across His Girlfriend, Lekha Washington, 'Her Then-Partner...'

Imran Khan was among the most popular actors to debut in the late 2000s. His role as the simple college student 'Jay' in Jaane Tu…Ya, Jaane Na quickly helped him make a place in the hearts of fans. Further, he went on to star in several rom-coms that made him Bollywood's adored 'chocolate boy'. Imran has been away from films but has sat down for interviews in the past few months, where he shared updates about his life. One of the most interesting revelations by Imran was that he began dating Lekha Washington. Fans were curious about the couple's love story, and finally, Imran shared how he first met his girlfriend. 

Imran Khan recalls how he came across his girlfriend, Lekha Washington

Imran Khan recently sat down for an interview with Sakshi Shivdasani and Naina Bhan on their podcast, Moments of Silence. During their conversation, they discussed modern dating concepts, and Imran was asked how he met his girlfriend, Lekha Washington. In his reply, the former actor shared that Lekha's former partner was his good friend and they were all a part of the same group. In his words: 

"We were all in a group of friends. Her then-partner actually was an old, old school friend of mine. So we were all kind of within the same group of friends." 

For those unaware, Lekha previously dated popular theater performer, Dhritiman Chatterjee's son, Pablo Chatterji. Imran shared that during the initial phase of their relationship, they used to live in their respective homes. However, after some time, Lekha proposed living together, and he was on board with it. Imran shared that they are different when it comes to living together. Sharing more about the experience, he said: 

"This past year, as we've moved into the same space, has been about finding that balance of me saying we have too many things, and she's like 'but I found this amazing thing'."

Imran Khan addressed the rumours of Lekha Washington being a 'homewrecker'

Imran Khan was previously married to Avantika Malik. However, the couple parted ways in February 2019, and they continue to co-parent their 10-year-old daughter, Imara. When rumours of him dating Lekha made headlines, she was called as the reason behind his divorce. Later, in an interview with Vogue, he revealed that he and Lekha began dating during the lockdown. It was more than a year after he and Lekha separated from their former partners. He explained: 

"The speculation that I'm romantically involved with Lekha Washington is true. I'm divorced and have been separated since February 2019. There's this narrative of Lekha being a homewrecker, which infuriates me because not only is it misogynistic, but it also takes away my agency as an individual." 

Imran Khan's career so far 

Imran Khan is Aamir Khan's nephew, who debuted with Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na in 2008. He starred in some commercially successful films, including I Hate Luv Storys, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Delly Belly. However, later, his films failed to perform at the box office. So, after the release of his last film, Katti Batti, in 2015, the actor stepped away from films.
