Imran Khan saw immense stardom when his film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, was released. He made millions fall in love with his 'soft boy' era, way before it was a thing. He proved to the world that a 'hero' doesn't need to fight and do action sequences to win hearts; he can win it by playing the role of a heroine's best friend. While Imran did his best to leave a mark on the audience's hearts, his films failed to generate numbers at the box office, and he left the world of glam and glitz. It was during the same time that Imran went through a divorce from Avantika Malik. The actor first time talked about the reason behind his separation.
Imran Khan and Avantika Malik tied the knot in 2011, and in 2019, the couple parted ways due to irreconcilable issues. Recently, in an interview with India Today, Imran first time revealed the reason behind his divorce. The actor stated that he was going through depression at that point and he realised that his marriage wasn't working. He added that he didn't want to add fuel to the gossip fire, but he was dealing with a lot of baggage. Imran said:
"Without going too much into that part, because I'm hesitant to add a lot of fuel to the gossip fire, but as I was dealing with all of this baggage and my internal struggle, I did find that my marriage and my relationship were not helping any of that."

Imran further added that in an ideal marriage, the two people should make each other better, healthier and stronger. However, they were not in that place, and hence, they parted ways. He was quoted as saying:
"In an ideal, healthy dynamic between two people, you are both making each other better, healthier, stronger, and supporting each other to be the healthiest, best, strongest version. We were not in that place."
In an interview with Zoom, Imran Khan talked about spending his days and how he is particular about taking care of his daughter, Imara, along with his ex-wife, Avantika. He revealed that Imara stays with him from Thursday to Sunday, and he makes sure that he doesn't take up any work during those days, as he needs to drop her off at school, get her ready and be with her. He was quoted as saying:
"Thursday to Sunday, I don't take up any work, those are the days I have my daughter with me, so, because I have to take her to school, get her ready, be there and do all of these things. I don't take on work from Thursday to Sunday, I only take on work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. As in when I start shooting for something then things are going to go for a toss, par fir dekha jayega."
Imran and Avantika were school sweethearts. The couple began dating at the age of nineteen, and it was in 2010 when they got engaged. Their love was infinite and the next year, they got married in a civil service at Imran Khan's mamu, Aamir Khan's home in Pali Hills. It was in 2014 when Avantika and Imran welcomed their first child, a baby girl whom they have named Imara. However, after eight years of marriage, the couple parted ways but made sure not to discuss the ugly facts of their relationship in the media.
On the personal front, Imran Khan has moved on and found love in Lekha Washington.
