Imran Khan's Ex-Wife, Avantika Reveals They Are Not Friends After DIVORCE: 'We're Not There Yet...'

Avantika Malik has known Imran Khan all her life. At a young age, the duo fell in love, even before Imran Khan became the national crush of many girls. However, at the age of 28, the duo tied the knot, and after nine years of living together, they ended up in divorce. Despite parting ways, Avantika and Imran continue to co-parent their daughter, Imara. Recently, Avantika bared her heart out on her life after the huge step of separation from Imran and whether they are now friends or not.

Avantika Malik talked about her current equation with Imran Khan

Recently, in an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Avantika Malik was questioned about whether she is friends with Imran Khan after their separation. To this, Avantika shared that they had lived their youth trying their best to make the relationship work, but they parted ways when they realised that they would be better off without each other. However, the divorce left her devastated, and it took her a long time to heal and rebuild her life. She said:

"I think the actual separation comes when we say that, ‘Look we spent our youth trying our best. I know we both gave it our best!’ If it means living separate would bring more happiness, and it has reached that point when its not as compatible as before… there comes a day when its okay to choose me… I was devastated, it took me a long time."

So, Avantika and Imran don't share a friendship yet. She shared that 'friendship' is a strong term, and they are not yet ready to share the bond. Avantika was quoted as saying:

"But we don’t (talk), not really. It’s cordial, but friends is a very strong term. We’re not there yet. Maybe some day."

Avantika opened up about co-parenting their daughter Imara 

Further, Avantika revealed that she and Imran knew that they had to do their best when it came to their daughter, and they were always on the same page. They spend an equal amount of time with Imara. Avantika added that this is what makes her believe that she has not lost anybody and that everyone is still around. Avantika shared:

"I think for both Imran and I, we always knew we were going to do our best when it came to her (daughter Imara). We were on the same page on that. She always has access to both parents. She spends equal amount of time with both parents. So I think in that sense she knows that she has not lost anybody, everybody is still there. We have been conscientious to not let her know about things that have been going on between him and I about divorce or lawyers… to be exposed to it. We were united on that front, to know that she is loved and protected and not losing anyone in her family. She knows that she is not responsible in anyway, she does not carry any of the guilt or shame."

For the unversed, Imran Khan and Avantika Malik were childhood sweethearts and dated for nine long years before getting married. The couple also have a daughter, Imara Malik Khan, who was born on June 9, 2014. While Avantika is single, Imran has moved on and has been dating Lekha Washington.
