India Lost World Cup To Australia: PM Modi, Celebs, WAGs Console Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, More

The 10-match winning streak of the Indian cricket team ended in the final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19, 2023, leaving an entire nation traumatised. The Australian team defeated an in-form Indian team by six wickets and lifted their 6th World Cup trophy in front of 1.3 lakh spectators. After a bright start to the game by Rohit Sharma, who scored 47 runs in 31 balls, all was on Virat Kohli, who responded on the day with his vital innings of 53 runs in 63 balls.

However, after his dismissal, when everything seemed lost, KL Rahul saved India from further embarrassment by holding his ground and scoring 66 runs in 107 balls. In the bowling department, Mohammed Shami sent David Warner home in just 7 runs and with Jasprit Bumrah taking crucial wickets of Mitchell Marsh and Steven Smith, India's bowling attack was doing what was expected of them.

Australia has beaten India by 6 wickets to win their 6th World Cup title, courtesy of Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne's historic innings

During the 6.6 overs, Australia were 3 down for just 47 runs, and everything was going in favour of the Indian team. Back in that moment, no one knew that a storm in the name of Travis Head was getting prepared to swallow every Indian's dream to win the World Cup.

The batsman single-handedly turned the match in Australia's favour by scoring 137 runs in 120 balls. Along with him, it was Marnus Labuschagne, who played one of the best innings of his entire career. The cricketer hit 58 runs in 110 balls. There's no denying the fact that Australia is a great team, but if Travis Head had not played the game of his life, just like Glenn Maxwell's 201-run knock against Afghanistan, things could have ended differently.

Regarding Team India, they were on a dominant unbeaten run, and both the batters and bowlers were on fire throughout the tournament. But as we say, sometimes titles belong to individuals, and one such case was in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah were on the right rhythm even in the finals, but the day was doomed for the Indian team as Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne were destined to take the trophy home all by themselves.
