On April 25, 1967, Samarjitsingh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad was born to his parents, Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad and Shubhanginiraje. He was the only son of the royal couple, who went on to inherit their massive fortune and legacy. Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh was the second son of Maharaja Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad. For the unversed, it was in 2013 when Samarjitsingh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad received a huge portion of his family’s fortune in a settlement, eventually making him one of India's richest men. After his father, Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad’s demise in May 2012, Samarjitsingh was crowned as the Maharaja of Baroda at the Laxmi Vilas Palace in June 2012.
As soon as Samarjitsingh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad became the Maharaja, he took charge of the 23-year-old legal inheritance with his uncle, Sangramsinh Gaekwad, dispute worth Rs. 20,000 crores.
After he won the case, Samarjitsingh received the inheritance rights of Laxmi Vilas Palace, movable assets, and complete control of temple trusts of 17 major temples in Gujarat and Banaras. The case not only made him one of the richest men in India but also helped him to continue his family's legacy with the acquisition of Laxmi Vilas Palace.
