Talking about her personal life, Indira Gandhi got married to Feroze Gandhi at the age of 25. They had two sons, Rajiv and Sanjay. On the other hand, another Indian writer, Krishna Hutheesing, described the look of Feroze, on his wedding day. As per her, Feroze's wedding ensemble was customised, and it was made of Khadi. The then groom wore a white sherwani, including a long coat with a Russian-type closed collar, tight-fitting jodhpurs, and a narrow cloth cap, which was also made of Khadi.

Indira Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi's love story and wedding

Feroze Gandhi first saw Indira when she was 13-14 years old, and he proposed to her when she turned 16. Well, he proposed to his lady love several times until she agreed to the same. At the age of 25, Indira tied the knot with the 'only man of her life'. Talking about her love story, back in 1930, during a freedom campaign, Indira's mother, Kamala fainted, and it was Feroze, who went to look after her.

This was the first time when Indira and Feroze met. Three years later, Feroze proposed to Indira, but she rejected, being only 16. Later, they met during their stay in Britain, and eventually, their bond became strong, and they got married in 1942. There were several speculations about Indira's parents having some objection to her wedding with Feroze. Dismissing all the buzz about it, Indira, once in an interview, stated that, while the buzz is partially true that there were some objections, it was only due to her family's concern about her husband's ability to support her in her aspirations and her unique way of living. She said:

"Well, there was some, not because he was a Parsi, but because he came from a different background. Also some of the older members thought he wouldn't be able to support me in the way we ... I had been living. He (Feroze Gandhi) was the only man in my life, then or ever. I shared my closest personal moments with him."
