Ke Huy Quan, a.k.a Jonathan Ke Quan, is an American actor who rose to fame as a child actor. While the exact marriage date of the duo is not available online, according to multiple reports, Jonathan and Echo had a low-key wedding ceremony. Ke Huy Quan and Echo Quan crossed paths in 2004 on the sets of 2046, a film by Wong Kar-wai. For the uninitiated, 2046 is a sequel to the critically acclaimed romantic film, In The Mood For Love. In 2046, Ke Huy worked as an assistant director, and Echo Quan was an on-set translator. Echo had earlier worked with Wong. The Oscar-winning actor rose to fame as a child actor, but later struggled hard to establish his foothold in the industry, so he started working behind the camera after completing a course in filmmaking. In a 2023 interview, Ke Huy recalled the time when he worked as an assistant director. He was quoted as saying:
"When I walked on set, it was a different feeling, but I was still happy to be there, to be able to contribute to making movies. Now, because of that experience, when I walk on a movie set, I see everybody. I see the production assistants, I see the gaffer, I see the boom operator."

According to a report by People, Ke Huy Quan and Echo Quan started dating after they were introduced by Wong Kar-wai on the sets of the film, 2046. Eventually, they got married. While the couple had a low-key marriage, they have kept the other details away from the spotlight. Earlier, this year, in February 2025, Ke Huy revealed an unheard detail related to his married life with Echo Quan on The Drew Barrymore Show. He shared that the duo had been married for 22 years. He recalled the day when he met her and shared that he had felt an instant connection. He also called their first meeting, the 'luckiest day' of his life.

After rising to prominence as a child actor, Ke Huy Quan had to wait for many years to establish his foothold in the industry. It was 2022, Ke Huy had a turning point in his career and became globally famous with his breakthrough movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once. Echo worked as an on-set translator for the multilingual 2022 film. The makers of the film, The Daniels, shared a tweet thanking Echo for her contribution to the film. So many people have told us how much it meant to them to hear the family speaking in multiple languages (Cantonese, Mandarin, Chinglish and English) and we couldn't have pulled it off without her. This is her first job in the industry since she has moved here. She teared up when we hired her. But we’re the lucky ones!"
Ke Huy Quan won a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal as 'Waymond Wang' in the film, Everything Everywhere All at Once. While receiving the prestigious awards, Ke Huy Quan didn’t forget to address the contribution of his wife. In his acceptance speech at the Golden Globe awards, he thanked his wife and called her the 'most important person' in his life. He shared that she was the only one who never stopped believing in him. He also confessed his love for her and said, "I love you with all my heart." Ke Huy Quan had a similar kind of feeling in his acceptance speech at the Oscars. He expressed his gratitude towards his wife. He was quoted as saying:
"I owe everything to the love of my life, my wife, Echo, who month after month, year after year, for 20 years, told me that one day my time will come."
