Business Shames A Mom For 'Mixed Feeding' Her Child, Netizens Say, 'This Is Wrong On So Many...'

Being a mother is the most blissful and most terrifying part of a woman's life. She goes through several emotions and difficulties during this time. She is trying not just to be there as a caregiver but also a protector and nurturer of a little life, making decisions that will define her child's tomorrow. Amid that pressure, when a company shames them for the decisions they make as a mother for their child, it can leave them feeling overwhelmed and guilty. Something similar happened when a mom reached out to a company, and they shamed her for her mixed feeding.

A mother took to the discussion platform, Reddit and shared her dismay with a conversation she had with a business called, Nutrizoe. She shared a couple of screenshots on the platform, pointing out how she reached out to the business on WhatsApp, and when she discussed her issue with the brand, they judged her for her choices. The mother elaborated on how she fed her baby formula once or twice a day while she fed pumped breastmilk two to three times and eight times directly fed her child. However, the brand seemed to have a problem with her feeding her child with a bottle and accused her of 'self experimenting'. They further told her to be prepared for her baby to cry in the coming days. They also shamed her and stated:

"Well then please be ready that baby will stop taking yours in another 10-15 days. And will cry badly when you will take at breast and will never take yours no matter how much you would try. And your supply will drastically dip in another 20-25 days max from here. So, all the best if you keep doing this self-experiment."

The mother shared the screenshots of their conversation on the discussion platform and expressed her disappointment with how the business treated her. She also expressed her genuine concern, asking the users if mix-feeding her baby should raise concerns for her. The last screengrab also showed how she reached back to the business and stated:

"I was surprised by your comment. My doctor didn't advise against bottle feeding, only mentioning a possible risk of nipple confusion, which isn't a universal experience. I haven't noticed any latching issues, and my doctor even recommended pumping to help with my pain. I didn't appreciate the tone and judgment regarding my choices.
As a customer, I expect respectful communication, especially when it comes to sensitive topics like parenting."

Netizens react to the post

Soon the netizens started to chime in to share their views on the interaction. A user penned, "There is very little chance of nipple confusion after the initial months. The way this business spoke to you is horrible. Please tell me the name so I can personally find out who I can complain to. Mom shaming is never ok." Another penned, "Great that you posted this! Many Indian brands lack respect & basic manners while communicating with their customers. Opening a brand is gonna do shit for you if you can’t even represent your brand properly." A comment stated, "Omg, this is so rude and wrong on so many levels..you can't talk like that...and especially if someone is asking suggestions, so you should be more considerate...and while talking to a mother who has concerns regarding her baby you should be more gentle and listen more and judge less."
