The IPL fever has already started hitting hard for the cricket fanatics, as a high-profile trade recently happened, leaving Chennai Super Kings' star and MS Dhoni's go-to man, Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja), to leave the franchise and join the Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, Sanju Samson is going to play with CSK, leaving RR, which marks his first time playing with Dhoni's team, while it's a homecoming for Jaddu as he began his IPL career with RR back in 2008.

Ravindra Jadeja leaves CSK and returns to RR, his debut team

This is surely a shocker as it's been years since Jadeja has been playing with Dhoni's team. IPL 2026 Auction is going to take place on December 16, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, and ahead of that, IPL Retentions have been ongoing. For the IPL fans, this time your teams are playing it smart by doing a mini-auctioning (trade/retention), where they will have the power to prevent their star players from being in the auction panel, thereby holding onto them and letting those go whom them feel could be let go of. During the IPL retention, the buzz about the swap between Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja in RR and CSK proved to be right. Along with Jaddu, Sam Curran is also making a move to RR from CSK.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan revealed that it had been one of the toughest decisions to let Jaddu go. On the other hand, reports have been rife that CSK didn't want to cut ties with Jaddu and the decisions were made, which also had something to do with Dhoni, while others suggested that Jadeja was lured by the captaincy offer.
