Coming in terms with the loss of someone close is one of the toughest things. And every time we look at their old pictures, an array of emotions come flowing in our minds. April 29, 2020, was one such day when the entire nation had stood numb when the news of one of the most versatile actors, Irrfan Khan’s untimely death had flashed the headlines. Many thought that the news was fake, but when reality stroked them, tears couldn’t stop flowing from their eyes. Such was Irrfan Khan’s impact on his fans. Irrfan Khan had made his film debut with Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay, his performance had opened the gates of opportunities for him. The film was even nominated for the Academy Awards, and Irrfan was applauded for his effortless acting. Whether it is 'Miya Maqbool' in the film, Maqbool or 'Roohdaar' in Haider, Irrfan had lived every character he had played on screen. It was his impeccable dialogue delivery and the depth in his eyes, which brought life to the characters he had portrayed. The actor will always be remembered for his method acting.

Irrfan Khan was just 53 when he had left everyone for the heavenly abode. Like his fans, his family members too miss his presence in their lives. On May 1, 2020, Irrfan’s younger son, Ayaan Khan took to his Instagram handle and shared old pictures with his father. In one of the pictures, Irrfan was seen taking little Ayaan for a ride on his motorbike, and in the second picture, Irrfan and Ayaan were seen taking a casual walk. Along with the pictures, Ayaan wrote, “The flesh we roam this earth in is a blessing, not a promise.”
The Maqbool actor was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in March 2018, and a few days later, he had left for London for his treatment. He had returned in February for shooting the film, Angrezi Medium, and had flown back to London for further surgery. He had returned to India in September 2019 hail and hearty, but on April 28, 2020, the actor was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital due to Colon infection and was kept in ICU. On April 29, 2020, the actor had breathed his last and had bid adieu to his loved ones. We remember how Irrfan had shared the news of being diagnosed with the rare disease in an emotional tweet on his Twitter handle. He had described his fight with the words that could be read as "Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life-shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don't speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week - ten days when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me! – Irrfan."
In a 2016 interview with India.com, he had confidently stated, "I don’t want that day to arrive ever. I don’t want to live to see that day. I want my audience to see my craft, my film first. I don’t want my audience to come to theatres to see me. I want them to see my craft. The day they come to see me and not my film, that day will be my death."
