It's been almost two years since the acting maestro of Bollywood, Irrfan Khan, left us with all of his great films from Maqbool to Lunchbox to Hindi Medium and many more, along with so many memories. On January 7, 2022, he would have turned 55, and on his birth anniversary, his wife, Sutapa recalled a few rare insights about the late actor.
Sutapa and Irrfan had got married on February 23, 1995. But their marriage wasn't a wedding, it was a union of two personalities. They were poles apart, yet they used to understand each other. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sutapa mentioned that Irrfan had never made her feel special, she knew she was for him and that he couldn't imagine a life without her. That's how great their bond was!

On Irrfan Khan's 1st death anniversary on April 29, 2021, Sutapa Sikdar had taken to her Facebook profile and had penned down a heartwrenching note for her late husband. On that note, she had mentioned that she and her friends had sung his 'favourite songs' a night before his demise. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Sutapa shared that he was unconscious at that time but had tears rolling down his cheeks. Recalling that night further, Sutapa revealed details about the same and said:
“Jhoola kinne dala re, amraiya, jhoole mora saiyaan, loon main baliyaan… from Umrao Jaan, Lag jaa gale ke phir yeh haseen raat ho na ho (Woh Kaun Thi?), the ghazal Aaj jaane ki zid na karo… and some Rabindra sangeet. He was unconscious but he had tears rolling down."
In the same interview, Sutapa was asked how Irrfan's death was 'not a loss' but a gain. The wife of the late actor revealed how grateful she feels for spending this amount of quality time with him. Sharing the same, she said:
"I realized how much I’ve gained from him emotionally and spiritually. I am grateful for having spent my life with him. It’s time to celebrate, reflect and to reconsider the way to look at life, which one perhaps wouldn’t have, if he were alive. Also, I gained so much from other people, who narrated such amazing stories regarding their experiences with him. He wouldn’t talk about those so much."

Sutapa's post on Irrfan's 1st death anniversary had also mentioned how hard her days were after Irrfan's demise. The post could be read as:
"The days went by with umpteen responsibilities, some extremely new ones like signature galore for changing of name. My fingers kept stopping on that how could I just take his name away and make it Sutapa, I was unable to sign. Took a day off and the name game played on my mind. Like a film in a projector."
Irrfan Khan will always stay in our memories with his great works, but we sure do miss him!
