Is Annabelle Doll The Reason Of Dan Rivera's Death? Here's What Pennsylvania Police Has To Say

Dan Rivera's mysterious death has been making a lot of headlines lately, with several speculations from people regarding the Annabelle doll. For the unversed, Dan Rivera was a paranormal investigator with the New England Society for Psychic Research, who was on a tour with Annabelle doll when he died. He was on the 'Devils on the Run' tour, which is an event that features the allegedly cursed Annabelle doll from the Annabelle horror movies. 

Was Annabelle doll in the room when Dan Rivera died?

After Dan Rivera's mysterious death, people online have blamed the Annabelle doll and said that it is cursed. People online have also said that the doll is the reason behind Dan Rivera's death. Amid all of this, some official sources have confirmed that the Annabelle doll was not in the room when Dan Rivera died. Francis Dutrow, the Adams County coroner, spoke to CNN and said that Rivera died alone in his room. 

Later, even Pennsylvania State Police mentioned that "nothing unusual or suspicious" was found in the room. A police report from July 16, 2025, labeled Dan Rivera's death as 'natural' and said that more exact details about his death will be revealed after his autopsy report, which is expected in 8-10 weeks. 

Jason Hawes honoured Dan Rivera in a facebook post

Jason Hawes, who is well known for his role in Ghost Hunters, took to his facebook account to honour and remember Dan Rivera. After Dan Rivera's sudden death, Jason felt sad after seeing all the theories online and regarding the same he expressed his sorrow on Facebook. On July 15, he remembered Dan Rivera as a good man and as someone who cared about people. In his words:

"Recently the World lost a good man. Dan Rivera was an Army veteran, a father of four, a husband, and someone who truly cared about people. What's even harder to see right now are the posts blaming his death on things like the Annabelle doll."

Will the tour, "Devils on the Run" continue after Dan Rivera’s death?

While talking to TMZ, NESPR (New England Society for Psychic Research) said that they do not really know the future of NESPR without Dan Rivera, but they will still continue the tour as it was scheduled earlier. They believe that even Dan would want the work to continue, so the tour won't stop. NESPR mentioned: 

"Do not know what the future of NESPR will look like without Dan, we do plan to move forward with the events previously scheduled for this year. We believe with all our hearts that Dan would have wanted the work to continue -- bringing people together, sharing knowledge, and honoring the memory of Ed & Lorraine Warren."

More about the Annabelle doll

The Annabelle doll is a soft and old-fashioned Raggedy Ann Toy, but it is believed to be haunted. In the 1970's famous ghost hunters, Ed and Lorraine Warren said that this Annabelle doll has a dark spirit attached to it. They even kept the doll locked in a special glass case in their museum to keep everyone safe. The Annabella doll became even more famous after it was shown in popular horror movies like The Conjuring and Annabelle.
