Is BTS Calling It Quits Ahead Of Upcoming Album? RM Says, 'Time To Disband' During Livestream

BTS is one of the world's biggest boy bands, with over 30 million subscribers on Weverse. However, the group had been on hiatus for quite some time following the members' mandatory military service in South Korea in 2022, leaving their fans to wait patiently for them to reunite and unveil their new music. It is only recently that the members reunited and announced their comeback during a livestream on Weverse on July 1, 2025. Since then, the members often partake in a post-practice livestream to connect with their fans. In one such livestream that occurred recently, members, RM and Jimin, talked about their band's disbandment, albeit jokingly, sending their fans worldwide into an absolute frenzy. Here's what happened.

Why did RM and Jimin talk about BTS's disbandment?

BTS members, RM and Jimin, surprised their subscribers on Weverse by treating fans to an impromptu chat. As the duo joined the livestream after their practice, they soon realised that their broadcast only had a single viewer. This was especially shocking considering the fact that the group has more than 30 million subscribers on the platform. Jimin, who was initially lying on the floor, was the first one to point out the unusually low viewer count by saying, "Only one person joined. The network doesn't really work here, but there's really just one viewer."

RM soon turned this shocking moment into a hilarious one by jokingly talking about their band breaking up. He said, "Let's call it quits on our tea. Time to disband?" This sentence not only left their millions of fans around the world shocked and in disbelief, but also left Jimin himself shocked and in disbelief. Looking visibly confused, he quickly questioned, "What do you mean, time to disband?" Realising that it was a joke, he soon broke out into laughter. RM wrapped up the joke and clarified that he said it because there was no one to watch them at the time.

While the whole conversation between the two BTS members started as a lighthearted joke, their interaction quickly went viral, with many fans initially startled before realising that RM and Jimin were simply poking fun at the technical glitch. Another thing that ARMY took note of was how the pair could easily joke about something as serious as disbandment, showing their confidence in BTS's strength as a team.

Jin joined the livestream, and the BTS members talked about their upcoming album

After RM and Jimin finished talking about the technical glitch, Jin entered their livestream and teased the pair for starting the live only after he had left. RM and Jimin both admitted that it's true that all three of them were practising together up until they started their livestream. They also revisited some of their older tracks and, soon after, moved on to discussing their upcoming album, which fans have been eagerly awaiting.

Jimin, in turn, took his chance to praise V's vocals on their upcoming album. Jin had also previously spoken about the album’s creation, revealing how stunned he was by the progress and artistry of the songs when he joined the rest of the BTS members after finishing his own solo tour.
