Pranav Mohanlal’s chilling horror flick, Dies Irae, is released in theatres on October 31, 2025 and has been getting great reviews. Hours after its release, the film was tagged as ‘Indian cinema’s best horror film’ by critics and fans. Rahul Sadasivan is one of the finest storytellers; however, Pranav Mohanlal did complete justice to his performance.
The haunting visuals of the film have sent chills down the audience’s spine and is the perfect treat for Halloween. The trailer teases haunting imagery of eerie corridors and a voice reciting verses from the Book of Revelation: “The trumpets will sound, and the earth and sky shall be destroyed.”

Ever since the film's release, people have been eager to know whether the psychological thriller is based on true events. At the beginning of the film, a disclaimer states that it is based on true events. Not just this, many tweets also stated that the film's story is based on true events that happened in Kerala a few years ago. However, the details of the incidents are not publicly disclosed.

Dies Irae revolves around a wealthy young man, named 'Rohan', played by Pranav Mohanlal, who lives in his architect father’s opulent mansion. 'Rohan' lives the life of a rich brat who doesn’t care about others. He leads a glamorous life that takes a complete U-turn when he starts experiencing eerie occurrences in his home.

When Rohan’s ex-classmate is found dead in a well, the narrative changes. As Rohan begins to uncover the mystery surrounding him and his home, he is pulled into eerie realms, strange alliances, and unimaginable horrors. The film uncovers many mysterious elements, spooking the audience to the core.

Dies Irae is produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S Sashikanth under Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios. The film is rated A and is not suitable for kids. In addition to Pranav Mohanlal, the film features power-packed performances by Arun Ajikumar, Jaya Kurup, and Jibin Gopinath. Each and every character adds layers to the story’s unsettling world. Christo Xavier’s music heightens the fear and mystery surrounding the plot.
