Is Nicki Minaj's Son 'Non-Verbal'? Cardi B Makes Big Claim As Daughter, Vulture Is Called 'Ugly'

Rap queens Nicki Minaj and Cardi B are currently embroiled in a public feud. The issue that began in September 2025, over the sales of Cardi B's new album, Am I the Drama?, has now escalated. Both sides have shown no consideration for each other and have dragged other people, including acquaintances and family members, into the social media dispute. Things even turned as ugly as them defaming each other's little kids, calling them 'ugly' and hinting at developmental issues, including 'non-verbal' behaviour and autism.

Nicki Minaj criticised Cardi B for her new album's lower sales figures compared to Nicki's. As Cardi hit back, Nicki posted some derogatory comments on Cardi's 8-year-old daughter, Kulture, calling her a 'vulture' and 'ugly'. Fans were distraught at seeing her involve someone's family in a one-on-one feud and took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their disapproval of the behaviour. To counter Nicki's words, Cardi crossed the boundary as well; she accused the former's son of being 'non-verbal' and hinted at him being autistic.

The Bodak Yellow singer claimed that Nicki Minaj's son, whom she publicly referred to as Papa Bear, couldn't speak like other kids of his age. According to Cardi, Nicki was 'jealous of everybody kids' because her own child was not healthy enough. Cardi also alleged that Nicki Minaj's dr*g abuse was responsible for Papa Bear being mute. She also hinted at the kid being autistic by calling him 'slow' and alleging that he couldn't walk properly and tiptoed even at 5 years of age. Her tweet can be read as:

"You said f**k Vulture what??? Bitch f**k that slow a** son that came out your pu**y.. you was wishing so much negativity on me while I was pregnant and look at your karma… look what your rotten pu**y produced!! Now he a whole 5 year old tippy toeing around the house and can't spell his name."

Is Nicki Minaj's son actually nonverbal or autistic?

Nicki Minaj had a difficult time giving birth to her son, Papa Bear. She was in labour all night and thanked the heavens for the safe birth of her child after all the trouble. Nicki and Kenneth Petty's baby boy, born on September 30, 2020, is treasured by the couple. Nicki often posts pics and videos of the little one, and they didn't make it seem like Papa Bear was autistic or mute. Cardi B's comments regarding Nicki's son are not officially confirmed, and there is certain evidence that contradicts them.

In February 2022, Nicki revealed on The Late Late Show with James Corden that her son, nicknamed Papa Bear, was walking and repeating everything she said. She also described in March 2022 how her son would play a game of peek-a-boo with her, which she initially thought might be an issue, but later realised that it was just him being a 'lil comedian'. A September 2021 Facebook video from iHeartRadio showed a heartwarming clip of Papa Bear saying 'hi' for the first time.

News reports from October 2024 about his fourth birthday and December 2023 interviews continue to reference his normal developmental progress. Hence, Cardi B's claims that Nicki Minaj's son is not normal remain unverified. Her remarks received criticism from fans, who were as disappointed in her as they were in Nicki for bringing each other's kids into their drama.

How did Cardi B and Nicki Minaj's online feud start?

The ongoing feud between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj began when Nicki reportedly mocked the sales performance of Cardi B's new album, Am I the Drama?, on social media. Nicki hit back, saying that she debuted way later than Nicki and the latter should compare herself with her peers like Taylor Swift. According to Cardi, Nicki wouldn't do that, as Taylor was more popular and financially stable than her. Now, the dispute escalated, moving to vicious personal insults involving their families and children.
