Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan turned 59 yesterday, November 2, 2024. But did you know the theory that our King Khan might be the reincarnation of a famous Indian dancer? Sounds pretty out there, right? Reincarnation, doppelgangers and past-life regression are bizarre yet undeniably fascinating concepts. It’s rooted in the Hindu belief in the cycle of reincarnation where the soul, or atman returns to the physical realm in a new body. While there's no hard proof, it's definitely an intriguing thought. Let’s explore the bizarre theory of SRK being the reincarnation of a renowned dancer from Bengal, Sadhona Bose.
Dr. Walter Semkiw, a San Fransisco-based researcher, explored the mystery of reincarnation in his book, Born Again. Ever since its publication, the book has stirred quite a lot of commotion as it documented the past lives of different celebs including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Jawaharlal Nehru.

In his book, Semkiw authenticated Egyptian spirit guide, Arthur Re’s postulation that Shah Rukh Khan was a well-known female dancer and actor from Bengal named Sadhona Bose, who had even worked with Anna Pavlova in 1929 on a stage version of Alibaba. The famous dancer was from present-day Kolkata and lived from 1914 to 1973. A trained classical dancer, Sadhona’s best-known movie is Raj Nartaki which was also released in the United States as Court Dancer. Semkiw wrote:
“It all started when I consulted Kevin Ryerson, a famous trance medium. I found that Kevin was able to channel an Egyptian spirit guide named Athun Re, who, I realised over the course of multiple sessions, had the ability to make accurate past-life identifications. However, since my background is in science, I needed evidence to be convinced that whatever matches were being told to me were 100% correct.”
What finally convinced Semkiw of the reincarnation theory was when he researched and traced similar characteristic traits between Shah Rukh Khan and Sadhona Bose, described in detail in Born Again. According to Semkiw, the last factor that persuaded him was the fact that, when researching the name he was given as a response, and comparing facial characteristics, personality qualities, abilities, and other attributes, there were always striking parallels.
In Born Again, Semkiw revealed how Shahrukh Khan seemed to have an inborn talent for dancing. Sadhona Bose's dancing ability was demonstrated early in Shah Rukh Khan's career when he danced for the well-known actor and director, Barry John. In New Delhi, John was working with his Theatre Action Group to produce Annie Get Your Gun. John was hired as a male dancer in the show after Shah Rukh Khan approached him for a part where he impressed everyone with his remarkable skills.

Regardless of whether or not there’s truth in this bizarre theory, Shah Rukh Khan was quite intrigued when he came to know of his reincarnation conspiracy. Interestingly enough, the time Born Again was published, SRK was in the middle of his shoot for the film, Om Shanti Om, a story of Om Prakash Makhija’s reincarnation as a popular movie star, Om Kapoor, fulfilling his past life’s desire.
According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan had expressed an interest in seeing Sadhona Bose’s pictures, even though his religion didn’t allow him to believe in a past or future life.
Shahrukh Khan's love story with Gauri Khan is nothing short of a modern-day fairy tale marked by their religious differences and deep connection. Semkiw revealed in his book how SRK had realised his deep feelings for Gauri after a brief separation when she took a solitary reaper to Mumbai without informing him.
Shah Rukh Khan embarked on a quest to find Gauri Chhibber in the city without knowing her exact location, but he finally found her on the last day of his trip to Mumbai at Aksa Beach. This union finally confirmed their destiny to be together. According to Semkiw, when there is such a strong pool between two people it is typically linked to a past life connection as is the case with Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Chhibber.
