It: Welcome To Derry's episode 4, The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet's Function, has unfolded how Pennywise ended up in Derry. The episode showed Pennywise's origin. For the unversed, It: Welcome To Derry expands Stephen King's world of horror, while revealing how 'Pennywise', the scary dancing clown, ended up in the town.
As soon as the first episode was dropped on HBO and MAX, it garnered more than 5.7 million views, and as of now, a total of four episodes have been launched. Amid the release of the fourth episode, let's have a look at how many episodes are still there and why the clown, Pennywise, could not leave Derry!
It: Welcome to Derry was first released on October 26, 2025. As per the schedule, each of the episodes will go live on Sundays. With the first episodes airing, the series has already become the talk of the town. Following this, the second episode was dropped on October 31, 2025, and it was mainly for Halloween. Following this, the series is back to its normal schedule, and each episode will be dropped on Sundays only. Episode 3 and Episode 4 have been released as well. Now, questions have been rife about how many episodes are in It: Welcome To Derry. For the unversed, there will be a total of 8 episodes in It: Welcome To Derry, and it will be released till mid-December.
The fourth episode of It: Welcome To Derry is titled as The Great Swirling Apparatus of Our Planet's Function, and it shows how 'Pennywise' ended up in Derry. It showed how 1 million years ago, a falling star fell on Derry, and it split in two, freeing the evil in the woods. The evil used to roam in the Derry woods, and feed on the young kids to gain power. Following this, an elder person from the tribe Shokopiwah made a dragger from the broken parts of the stars. That star was the one thing that 'Pennywise' was afraid of.
Well, after the settlers arrived, they didn't listen to the tribe's people and ended up being in the woods, which, in a way, helped 'Pennywise' to gain his power as he fed on them after finding them in the woods. 'Pennywise' was known as 'Galloo' back then. Well, after they started sensing danger, the leader, 'Sesqui', wanted everyone to leave the town, but his daughter didn't.

When she went into the woods, 'Galloo' killed 'Sesqui', which led his daughter and others to find the fragments of the stars and create a barrier. As it seems, those barriers were the reason that 'Galloo', i.e. 'Pennywise', couldn't leave Derry. To mention, there are still four episodes left, and it will eventually show how 'Galloo' took the look of the clown. If the reports are to be believed, the budget of the series is USD 35 million, and it's been in the talks since the time it was released, thus making it quite successful.
