Jaan Kumar Sanu had become a household name with his stint in the reality show, Bigg Boss 14. He had entered the show as the popular singer, Kumar Sanu’s son, however, during the show, the audience got to know about their strained relationship. The ground-breaking statements by Jaan about his relationship with his father had started a war of words between them.
In the reality show, Jaan had stated that his father, Kumar Sanu has done nothing for him and his family. He had also mentioned that it was his mother, who had taken care of him and his brothers. Now, Jaan has re-created his father’s hit song, Humko Sirf Tumse Pyaar Hai, from Bobby Deol's Barsaat. While promoting his song, Jaan talked about his relationship with his father, Kumar Sanu.
In a conversation with Zoom Digital, Jaan Kumar talked about being judged to be a spoilt kid all his life. Sharing that people have wrong assumptions about him, Jaan said, "There has been a lot of judgement on me, there has been a lot of presumptions about me. People have made their assumptions regarding my lifestyle and they've always had to assume that I am a spoilt kid. I have my work cut out to me and work comes to me easy. But that's not the truth."
Jaan further talked about being compared with his father, Kumar Sanu since his childhood. He stated that people don’t care about their age gap and compare them. He shared, "I've had to face comparisons with my dad (Kumar Sanu) since childhood. People don't really care about your age factor because that is one of the biggest factors. My dad is much more senior to me and even his body of work is much more bigger than me."
The singer further added how he broke those bonds and comparisons. In his words, “I have just started out but people don't care about that. They compare a 27-year-old to a 64-year-old. Even when I was a kid, my dad started his career when he was 32 but people don't recognise unfortunately. Ya, I've had to face all of that but I have broken out of those bonds and overcome these hurdles in life."
Jaan also talked about the pressure he felt, crooning his father’s song, Humko Sirf Tumse Pyaar Hai. Calling it the biggest challenge of his life, Jaan concluded, "Honestly the biggest pressure for me was to make sure that I do not sound like my dad. Because this song and the voice that my dad has, it is so synonymous that it is difficult not to sing like him because we all have heard this song in his voice so frequently that it becomes difficult to come out of that zone. and sing. So that was the biggest challenge for me."
Jaan Kumar Sanu has collaborated with DJ Shadow Dubai for the song, Humko Sirf Tumse Pyaar Hai.
