The global entertainment industry has mourned the loss of several beloved stars, including actors, musicians, filmmakers, influencers and more in 2025. Now, the internet is abuzz with rumours claiming that global action star, Jackie Chan, has passed away. The viral posts have sparked confusion and concern among millions of his fans worldwide. Many of them took to their social media platforms to express their grief over the same. However, the uncertainty of official confirmation left everyone in a state of chaos, and now we have the final truth behind the claim.
Over the weekend, several Facebook posts falsely claimed that Jackie Chan had passed away. It was circulating online with a picture of him in a hospital bed, which left netizens concerned. However, no additional details were mentioned. One of those posts, uploaded by a page named Stories About Us, shared that picture and claim with an emotional caption. The post quickly went viral, receiving more than 25,000 and 30,000 shares. Fans flooded the comment section with condolences, believing it to be true. The caption of the viral post read:
"Today, the most beloved person in world cinema, a worthy actor, a great Kung Fu player, the man with a funny laugh, Jackie Chan, has passed away."

However, according to Prime Timer and other outlets, there is no official statement shared by Jackie Chan's family or team confirming his death. Moreover, no credible news outlets have reported anything related to his ill health or demise. It was discovered that the viral images accompanying the post were either outdated or generated using AI. In fact, the photo of the actor lying in a hospital bed was taken decades ago, when he sustained injuries while shooting for his 1986 action film, Armour of God.

This is not the first time that Jackie Chan has become the victim of false death hoaxes surfacing on the internet. Previously, in August 2025, similar claims surfaced on Facebook with images of Jackie in a coffin, hinting at his demise. According to Rumours Scanner, the claims were thoroughly investigated and proven false. Their team found no credible report from mainstream media or other reliable sources to confirm the news.

Furthermore, the so-called 'proof images', which added to the confusion, were either traced back to years ago or generated using AI to make fans believe in them and draw views. Meanwhile, social media platform X was flooded with some users expressing anger over the false death hoaxes. One user penned, "I f*ing hate Facebook. They had me thinking Jackie Chan passed. Dumb app." Another user posted, "Why is Facebook trying to kill off Jackie Chan??"

Jackie Chan, aged 70, is one of the world's most recognised actors, filmmakers and martial artists. He is known for blending high-octane action and contributed to the beginning of the 'King Fu comedy genre' that uses acrobatics, timing and humour. At the same time, he has been credited for performing his own stunts without the use of safety harnesses or CGI. Some of his popular hits over his nearly six-decade-long career include Rush Hour, Shanghai Noon, Police Story, and The Karate Kid remake, etc.
Apart from his on-screen legacy, Jackie Chan had a complex personal life. He tied the knot with Taiwanese actress, Joan Lin in 1982, and they welcomed a son, Jaycee Chaj, together. He has followed in his father's footsteps to become an actor. Additionally, he also has an estranged daughter, Etta Ng, from an extramarital affair that he publicly admitted was a 'serious mistake'. Despite these frequent fake claims, Jackie is alive and active. He was even last seen in May 2025 when he attended the Karate Kid: Legends premiere in New York.
