Jackie Shroff, lovingly known as 'Bhidu', has a persona of his own. The actor never shies away from helping anyone and is a true gentleman in real life. There is no denying that Jackie is kind-hearted and a true family man who adores his loved ones. Now, the actor has hit the headlines as he has taken legal action to safeguard his name and personality and also to restrict the unauthorised use of his nickname 'Bhidu'.
According to a Bar and Bench report, Jackie Shroff has moved to the Delhi High Court and filed a lawsuit against all entities that have used his name, pictures, and voice without his consent. He also alleged infringement of his trademark rights on his nickname aka the Marathi slang 'Bhidu'. The first hearing of the case has been scheduled for May 14, 2024, and the court is expected to issue an interim order after the session.

Jackie Shroff's legal representatives informed the court about how the actor's images and voice were being used in offensive memes and inappropriate content. They also raised concerns about the creation of pornographic material and defamatory stuff to exploit Jackie's image. The counsel said:
"Jackie Shroff is so well known. People will think it is endorsed by him. He has a certain marketability to his name. It can't be done without his consent. All are using his name, images and earning huge money. This is all defamatory stuff...there are distasteful dirty words in voice over. There is nothing legitimate about any of this."
In an old interview with Bollywood Hungama, Jackie Shroff opened up about how he got his stage name, ‘Jackie’. He shared that his friends used to call him 'Jaggu dada', while his mother and father called him 'Jaggu' and 'Jaikishan' respectively. Revealing that he has many names, Jackie added that people can call him with anything, but with love. The actor also mentioned that his classmate felt that Jaikishan was a long name, so he shortened it to Jai-Ki, which later evolved into Jackie. He further added that though his name kept on changing, his personality remained the same. He said:
“I had a classmate in school, who came from Hong Kong or Dubai. He felt that Jaikishan was a long name, so he told me that we should have some fun with it. He started calling me Jai-ki, and from there, it evolved to Jackie. My name has kept changing, but I’m still the same.”
