Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro's 'Mount Everest' project, Frankenstein, has grabbed all the attention. Frankenstein, which is an adaptation of Mary Shelley's 1818 novel of the same name, had a limited theatrical release on October 17, 2025. Well, the movie is now out on the OTT giant, Netflix. Ahead of the limited theatrical release, Frankenstein premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, gaining special praise in a 13-minute standing ovation, which is a surety of the fact that it will blow your mind.
To mention, the movie is not exactly the same as the novel of the same name, but rather a bolder 'reimagination'. Jacob Elordi, who played the role of the 'creature', is the soul of the movie. He has done an excellent job in the role, and along with his acting skills, his prosthetic makeup has also become the talk of the town. But how much was he paid for Frankenstein, which, according to Variety, is being made on a budget of USD 120 million? Let's have a look.

The movie also features Oscar Issac, who plays the creator of the creature 'Victor'. Well, during the promotional events, Issac just laughed it off while stating that he thought that his co-star, Jacob looked like an 'idiot'. Jacob laughed off and said 'fool' while the iconic director, Guillermo del Toro, jokingly said that Jacob 'should have asked for more money'.

While it was a joke, people really want to know how much Jacob was actually paid. To mention, there is no official information on the same; rather, a ballpark budget has been doing the rounds. If a report by The Richest is to be believed, Jacob might have earned between USD 500,000 and USD 1 million. To mention, it's not confirmed how much Jacob earned, but he had an alleged salary of USD 150,000 to USD 1 million from Euphoria, while from Saltburn, he allegedly earned USD 320,000.

If the reports are to be believed, Jacob Elordi is said to have earned USD 500,000 for his role in Priscilla. If the reports are to be believed, he also earned around USD 1 million for his role in the Kissing Booth movie series, where he played 'Noah Flynn'. Additionally, he said in an interview that he had only USD 400-800 in his bank account after the movie. As Frankenstein is on Netflix, one thing is assured that Jacob was paid a good amount for his role in the movie.

There must be a question among fans about whether the movie is a direct adaptation of the novel, which the author wrote at the age of 19. To mention, there must be some differences, and the visualisation of Mary Shelley's OG creation would definitely grab attention. In Mary Shelley's novel, 'The Creature' is shown as intelligent and emotional, in contrast to his terrifying appearance and vengeful nature. In del Toro's movie, the 'creature' (Jacob) is a bit sympathetic, poetic, and sensitive outsider, mostly romantic in nature. While the novel showed the creature's complexity through its isolation and horror, the recent movie focused on its romanticisation and humanisation.
