Janhvi Kapoor COPIED Aishwarya Rai's Cannes Look Featuring Head Veil And Pearls For Red Carpet

All eyes are searching for the OG queen, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her little princess, Aaradhya Bachchan, at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, but no one knows when she will make an appearance. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor is setting a new record with her back-to-back fashionable looks at Cannes. However, it was her red carpet debut that left everyone talking as it looked like a copy of Aishwarya's vintage look.

On May 20, 2025, Janhvi made heads turn with her Cannes 2025. She was dressed up in a blush pink, structured gown with a long trail and crinkled skirt. Her outfit featured a head veil which was attached to the gown. It also had huge trinkets on the side. Many people believe that Janhvi's look was designed by Tarun Tahiliani as a way to give an ode to her late mother, Sridevi Kapoor. 

However, fashion enthusiast fans were quick to find out that Janhvi's look was inspired by Aishwarya Rai's vintage look in the song, Poovukkul from the film, Jeans. Yes, in 1998, for a scene, Aishwarya wore a white two-piece outfit with a head veil. Aishwarya styled her look with a long pearl necklace. On the other hand, Janhvi also styled her debut look with layers of pearl jewellery.  

Netiznes quickly took to the discussion platform Reddit, and highlighted how Janhvi's look was a copy of Aishwarya's from her '90s film. One user wrote, "Lol yeah, now we've reached a point where every fashion trend is revolving & coming back again. Don't be surprised if something from 60s or 70s make a comeback with some aesthetics."

A second user penned, "No offence but should we compare Ash to Jahnvi? Ash is a natural beauty whereas Jahnvi is plastic made." Another commented, "The thing is Janhvi looked v unhappy with the outfit or maybe the fact that it needed a lot of carrying around taking away from the film and the rest of the cast and crew. I’m no hater but just think she didn’t enjoy her cannes moment much."

Well, netizens can say what they want to, but one thing is clear, Janhvi definitely made her appearance felt at her debut red carpet appearance. Her Tarun Tahiliani outfit added the right ounce of glamour and the stack of pearl necklaces accentuated it further. Instead of opting for statement earrings, Janhvi picked dainty earrings. 

It is worth mentioning that along with Janhvi, Neeraj Ghaywan, Ishaan Khatter, Karan Johar, and Vishal Jethwa arrived on the red carpet. Neeraj Ghaywan directed the movie Homebound, which also featured Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa. It was after their breakup that we spotted Ishaan and Janhvi together after so long. The actor was dressed up in a Gaurav pantsuit.

Janhvi Kapoor is all geared up for a film with Ram Charan titled Peddi, it is directed by Buchi Babu Sana, and stars Shiva Raj Kumar, Divyenndu and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. Not only this, Janhvi would also feature in a film opposite Varun Dhawan, named Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari.
