Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s elder daughter, Janhvi Kapoor made her Bollywood debut with the film, Dhadak, in 2018. However, she has always been in the public eye even before stepping foot in the Hindi film industry. Janhvi and her sister, Khushi Kapoor often made appearances at public events and award shows with their star parents, and the paparazzi left no chance to click their pictures.
In a recent conversation with Newslaundry, Janhvi Kapoor opened up about her internet presence and recalled how the cameras have always been a part of her life. The Mili actress also shared that people took pictures of her and her sister, Khushi with or without their consent and circulated them on the internet. Talking about the same, she said:
“I don’t recall any ‘first memory’ of being in public. It has always been a part of my life. The cameras have always been around. In our childhood, it was like we would go out. And people, with or without consent, took pictures of me and my sister.”

Janhvi also recalled the time when her paparazzi pictures and headlines announcing her launch in the film industry circulated on the internet. She shared that she was just 10 years old and was in grade 4 back then. The actress further recalled how she found those pictures flashing on her classmates’ computer screens as she entered her school’s computer lab and said that she looked very uncomfortable and not groomed in the pictures. Talking about the same, Janhvi said:
“It didn’t make me popular, instead, it alienated me from my peers in school. I don’t think they understood it so they started disliking me. I didn’t understand what was happening. My friends looked at me differently, they poked fun at me for not getting waxed.”
While Janhvi's paparazzi pictures alienated her from her peers in school, her teachers' attitude also changed towards her. Recalling the difficult time, the actress shared that she used to receive weird taunts that she wouldn’t understand and people asked her when was she leaving school. She added:
“Many insinuated that I don’t have to work as I was famous anyway, weird taunts that I wouldn’t understand... Everyone kept asking me when I was leaving school and why I was on Yahoo. There was a lot of judgement, a lot of questioning of one’s self-worth from a very young age.”

But things only got worse when Janhvi found morphed photos of herself on inappropriate, almost pornographic pages as a teenager. Talking about how things have not changed much even now, the actress shared that there is an influx of fake images online generated with advanced AI. Janhvi added that those images concern her and said:
"There’s been an influx of fake images, more so with today’s advanced AI. People see these manipulated images and assume they’re real. That deeply concerns me.”
