The ladies of the Bachchan clan, Jaya Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan and Navya Nanda have constantly been a part of the headlines, ever since the trio sat together for the latter’s podcast series, What The Hell Navya. The three generations of women discuss poignant matters regarding the socio-cultural lives around them, and express their vivid reflections. During the same, the three of them frequently reveal unheard anecdotes about their lives, which immediately grabs attention. And something similar happened yet again.
In the recent episode of her granddaughter’s podcast series, What The Hell Navya Season 2, Jaya Bachchan talked about certain low phases of her own career. The evergreen diva had been one of the most sought-after actresses in the 80s and 90s decades of Hindi cinema, having paved a way like no other. However, she now reflected that she hasn’t got the desired recognition in her film career, something, which, as an artiste, she deserved. Calling it unfair, Jaya further explained:

“When an artiste doesn’t get recognition, it feels really bad. Sometimes, I think we did so much path-breaking, unique, redefining work, but the amount of recognition–not appreciation–one should have gotten, we don’t get that. So, then I assume it’s my fate. I won’t say I never got affected with that. I did feel bad, I felt it was unfair.”

In the same conversation, Shweta Bachchan added on with her own revelations about her profession. The star-daughter remarked that she quitted her passion for writing after her debut book fetched negative reviews. Shweta explained that such an incident hampered her confidence and she began to doubt herself. In her words:
“I also had a professional failure. I wrote a book, it’s not like it made it to a bestseller or anything. But I’m not that person who can say, ‘Okay, I’m just going to bounce back up.’ I take it personally. If there are bad reviews, I can’t see it objectively. Like, ‘Okay, someone may not have liked my book.’ It took me a really long time. Like, I just stopped writing. And it made me doubt myself.”
In another episode of Navya Nanda’s podcast show, Jaya Bachchan opened up for the first time about dealing with the lowest phase of her husband, Amitabh Bachchan’s career. For the unversed, the superstar had been bankrupt back in the days, when his company named ABCL Corporation met with a massive financial crisis. Reflecting on the tough days of the past, Jaya remarked that as a wife, she had no other option than to be beside her husband, without questioning the good, bad or ugly outcomes of the time.

In her words:
“There’s enough that the world knows about us. We don’t need to share on Instagram."
