Jaya Bachchan Says Women Who Split Bills On Dates Are Stupid, Adds 'I'd Be Awkward To Propose A Man'

Jaya Bachchan loves to speak her mind about everything trivial. The veteran actress never minces her words and is vocal when it comes to expressing her opinions. Jaya Bachchan is a part of her granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast, What The Hell Navya, alongside her daughter, Shweta Bachchan. The trio talks about the various issues related to women's health and awareness and addresses the problems at hand.

Navya Naveli Nanda reveals her brother, Agastya Nanda is sensitive

In the latest episode of What The Hell Navya podcast, Navya Naveli Nanda invited her brother, Agastya Nanda, alongside the regular guests, Jaya Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda. All of them had a candid discussion on how the idea of masculinity has changed over the years. Speaking about the same, Navya shared that her brother is an unusually sensitive person and cries openly.

Navya shares how women want to be more independent 

Talking about the much-debated topic of toxic masculinity, Navya shed light on certain trends in society these days. She mentioned that after the concept of feminism gained prominence, women felt more empowered and wanted to be independent. Citing an example, Navya said that these days women offer to split the cheque when they go out on dates and added:

“Especially after feminism, and women feeling more empowered now, a lot of things they want to do independently. For example, today, if you take a girl out on a date, and you offer to pay, some people get offended by that. Because women feel that they are equally…”

However, it looked like Jaya had a different opinion, and she didn't like the ongoing trend of women offering to split the bill. Reacting to Navya's statement, Jaya interjected that she feels that those women are stupid as they should let the man pay. In her words:

“How stupid of those women. You should let the men pay.”

Jaya Bachchan shares that she would be very awkward to propose a man

Navya further asked Shweta and Jaya if they have noticed any change in how men used to act when the duo was younger and requested them to draw comparisons to what men are like now. To this, Shweta said, “There was always that thing that a man has to be strong and silent. Even when you’re dating, you’re waiting for the guy to come up to you, the guy to propose.” However, Jaya added:

“I would like that. It’s better for a man to propose, I’d be very awkward.”
