Ponniyin Selvan Actor, Jayam Ravi Announces Divorce From Aarti, 'Decision Was Not Made Out Of Haste'

Notable Tamil actor, Jayam Ravi has been leading the headlines for quite some time now. For the past few months, there have been many speculations about his separation from wife, Aarti. Though his fans considered it a mere rumour, the actor broke his silence and announced the heartbreaking news to his fans.

Jayam Ravi announced his divorce from Aarti

Taking to his X handle (formerly Twitter), Jayam Ravi posted two pictures of the statement in English and Tamil and announced that he had parted ways with his wife, Aarti. The actor, who ended his 15 years of marriage, called it a mutual decision. His statement can be read as:

“After much thought, reflections and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involves.”

The actor also urged his fans to respect the privacy of his family as it is a difficult time for him. He also requested his fans not to make any accusations and assumptions. In his words:

“In light of this, I hereby kindly request all of you to respect our prvacy as well as that of our family members during this difficult time and appeal to all of you to refrain from making any assumptions, rumors, or allegations in this regard and let the matter remain private.”

Jayam Ravi’s personal and professional life

Jayam Ravi married television producer, Sujatha Vijayakumar's daughter, Aarti Ravi, in 2009. They came close when she was pursuing her studies in Scotland, and their friendship blossomed into love within two years of getting to know each other. Finally, they got hitched and were blessed with two sons, Aarav and Ayaan.

Coming to Jayaram's professional front, he recently received huge acclamation for his role as the great 'Chola Emperor Raja Raja Chola' in Mani Ratnam's classic films, Ponniyin Selvan - 1 and 2. Apart from this, he has also been seen in a number of films over the years. Next, Jayam will be seen in films, including Brother, Genie, and Kadhalika Neramillai.

For the unversed, Jayam Ravi’s estranged wife, Aarti, is a successful entrepreneur and a social media influencer.
