Jemimah Rodrigues, during the India vs Australia Women's World Cup semi-final match, became the nation's hero. It was on the night of October 30, 2025, when she achieved a major milestone at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. She was unbeaten at 127 off 134 balls. Now, Jemiah posted her winning score of 127, thanked Jesus Christ, and credited him for carrying her through this. However, social media users slammed her and remembered how Jemimah's dad, Ivan, reportedly held conversion religious activities at a gymkhana.
When Jemimah, during her post-match presentation, thanked Jesus Christ and quoted a Bible verse, it did not go over well with netizens. Jemimah credited the almighty for overcoming her self-doubt, mental struggles, but a netizen took to X to write, "She was on 85(77) and reached century in 122 balls. Faced 45 balls to score 15 runs, but I wasn't playing for a century." Another user wrote, "Iske 3 easy catches drop huye hai Jo ki tactical thei. Really, I know she got slow, but this much? Didn't expect, Deepti aur Richa ne bacha liya."

Fans were praising Jemimah Rodrigues for her win, but a section of the audience questioned her strike rate. She was accused of being slow, and her remark on, "But I wasn't playing for a century" was mocked as they claimed she wasted balls. The trolling became intense when users wrote, "You will never find a better dramatist than these Jesusists". There were commentators who called out "Christianophobia".

For the unversed, it was in 2024 when allegations were levelled against Jemimah's dad, Ivan, of allegedly conducting conversion religious activities at Mumbai's famous Khar Gymkhana. Jemimah was subjected to backlash on the basis of religious bias. Her membership with the Gymkhana was lost after her dad had reportedly booked a hall for conversion activities. The decision was made when the club held its Annual General Meeting (AGM). Jemimah was the first woman cricketer to get the Khar Gymkhana membership back in March 2023.

Jemimah's father, Ivan, earlier slammed claims of making use of her membership for religious conversions. He shared that only prayer gatherings were held, in compliance with the procedures of the Khar Gymkhana. There were many complaints that Ivan had misused the privileges which were given to his daughter, the star cricketer. In response to the accusations, Ivan shared that he followed strict procedures when taking facilities and said no conversion meetings were held. In an interview with the India Today and also in a social media post, he shared:

"We had availed of the facilities at the Khar Gymkhana for the purpose of prayer meetings on multiple occasions, over a period of a year since April 2023. However, this was done in complete accordance with the procedures that Khar Gymkhana have in place, and in full knowledge of the office-bearers. The prayer meetings were open to all and were in no way 'conversion meetings' as is wrongly labelled in articles in the media."
However, the twist was that Jemimah ensured that she, along with captain Harmanpreet Kaur's performance, along with Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Amanjot Kaur's cricketing skills, made it one of the most memorable chases in the history of the World Cup.
