The pop star, who recently made a comeback with her album Nashville Canyon: Part 1, shared that she got pregnant with her second child just four months after giving birth to her daughter, Maxwell, in 2012. Remembering the shock of her second pregnancy, Jessica shared:

“My firstborn is now 13 years old. But when I had her, I was like, ‘You know what, I’m gonna focus on the Jessica Simpson Collection and I’m just gonna mom it. Because I got pregnant four months later, not thinking you could get pregnant while breastfeeding… It’s like, wait, what? I’m the 1%? Of course, I’m the 1%.”

For those who may not know, breastfeeding can act as a natural form of birth control and is often considered nearly as effective as hormonal contraceptives when followed under specific conditions. That’s why Jessica Simpson’s case of conceiving just four months after giving birth is considered quite rare.

Speaking about the album during her Today interview, Jessica said:

“My whole life just completely changed while making this record… It took time. It took time emotionally to kind of regain the confidence and physically put myself out there for everyone to have opinions about. Now, I kind of don’t care.”
