There has been quite a buzz in the media since Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner officially announced their divorce. In a joint statement released on September 6, 2023, the duo said that they have mutually decided to part ways. Before their official statement, there were news reports that mentioned that the duo’s difference in lifestyle was the primary reason behind the separation.
TMZ was the first one to report on the divorce of Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, and since then, there were a lot of speculations regarding their relationship. All of this stopped when the duo officially announced their divorce via their respective Instagram accounts. Their statement can be read as:
“Statement from the two of us, ‘After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.’”

As per a report by TMZ, a source mentioned that the difference in their lifestyle was the reason behind their separation. A source revealed that the 27-year-old actress's love for parties led to the divorce between them. They also claimed that Joe has been taking care of their daughters for the past three months. The source said:
"She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles.”
Sources revealed that Joe decided to end the relationship after catching Sophie in a compromising position in footage from a ring camera. He stated in his divorce petition that their relationship is ‘irretrievably broken’.
Since the news of their divorce came to the limelight, many tabloids came up with images of Sophie enjoying herself at a party, which is reportedly from the wrap-up party of her upcoming series, Joan. Some tabloids even blamed her for the divorce and called her an ‘absent mom’ as Joe was taking care of their children instead of her. Contrary to all the speculations, in an interview in 2020, Sophie Turner revealed that she does not like going out compared to Joe Jonas. She said:
“Everything seems to be working out in my favor here. Because Joe’s a real social butterfly, so I struggle to lock him down and have him just spend time with me. It’s like prison for him, but it’s great for me.”
