Joel Embiid was born on March 16, 1994, in Yaounde, Cameroon, and he is considered a towering force in the NBA. The 7'0" tall and 280 lbs' big man' needs no introduction as his skills and finesse speak for him. The Philadelphia 76ers selected Embiid 3rd in the 2014 NBA Draft, as scouts labeled him a 'future superstar' after watching him play for the University of Kansas. He played so well for Kansas, people used to call him 'Kansas' big man,' and some even compared him to the legendary Hall of Fame Center, Hakeem Olajuwon.
Despite being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014, Joel Embiid made his NBA debut in the 2016-17 season due to multiple injuries. However, once he was in the court for the 76ers, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. In the 2017-18 season, he helped the 76ers reach the playoffs and earned his first All-Star and All-NBA selections. In the 2020-21 season, Embiid finished as the runner-up for the MVP award, but he won his first NBA scoring title in the following season.

In 2022-23, Joel Embiid clinched the NBA MVP award and won his second scoring title. Fast forward to the 2025-26 season, Embiid looked slow on the ball and wasn't at his usual best. Although we shouldn't forget the fact that last season he played only 19 games, critics aren't holding back and are asking more of the 76ers' star player. With V.J. Edgecombe and Tyrese Maxey leading the team from the front, reports have started circulating about whether it's time for the 76ers to stop trusting 'The Process' (fans fondly call Embiid).

Amid all the debate over Joel Embiid's performances and future, most Philadelphia 76ers fans are still with their club's superstar. People are only wishing for him to be just healthy, as they believe that form is temporary, class is permanent, and Embiid will soon be at his absolute best. Last month, Embiid was in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and during a conversation with the reporters, he talked about finding his form and said, "You can't give up. You've got to get up and keep going." He also talked about his family and admitted that he's doing all of this for them. He said:
"Obviously, family is big for me. At this point in my career, that's what I do it for; my kids, my family. I've already accomplished a lot of things. There's only one thing missing [a championship]."

Moving on to NBA star Joel Embiid's personal life, he is married to Brazilian supermodel, Anne de Paula. Before we get into the couple's dating timeline, let's talk about de Paula, who is one of the NBA's hottest WAGs. Well, she was born on March 31, 1995, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. As she grew up, she fell in love with soccer and played as a goalkeeper for 6 years before realizing her heart lies in modeling.

At the age of 14, Anne de Paula had signed a contract with a modeling company. In 2017, she entered the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model search and, after winning the fan vote, de Paula made her debut as a SI Swimsuit rookie model in the 2018 edition. According to a report in PEOPLE, Anne de Paula speaks three languages, Portuguese, English, and French.

Moving on to the couple's love story, Joel Embiid and Anne de Paula met for the first time in 2018 through a mutual friend in New York City. Courtesy of their shared love of soccer, they began as friends, soon fell in love, and started dating. It was on September 17, 2020, when de Paula gave birth to their first child, a son, whom they named Arthur Elijah de Paula Embiid.
For the uninitiated, Joel Embiid and Anne de Paula named their son after the former's late brother, Arthur Embiid, who died in a car accident in 2014 at the age of 13. Finally, it was on July 22, 2023, when the stunning couple got married in a lavish wedding at Southampton, New York. The wedding ceremony was followed by a star-studded reception party, featuring performances by Brian McKnight, Meek Mill, and more. The couple continues to inspire others with how they're leading their marriage, as they rarely share snippets of their family time on social media. We hope they stay healthy and happy!
