In an interview with Kunickaa Sadanand on her podcast, Johny Lever said that his son, Jessy, developed a knot in his neck, for which he had to go through several treatments and an operation, but it couldn't be removed, given that the tumour was intertwined with the nerves.

Johny mentioned that doctors told him no further operation could take place, as it would raise the risk for Jessy to lose his eyesight and even increase the chances of paralysis. Johny said that he would witness his son lying on the hospital bed. Doctors prescribed Jessy medicines to let the tumour melt, but even after 40-50 pills daily, the tumour remained in the same state. Johny could be quoted as saying:

"My son developed a knot on his neck, and he went through several types of treatment, including an operation, but they couldn’t remove the tumour because it was intertwined with nerves. They warned me that they cannot operate, as my son risks losing his eyesight or getting paralysed. I saw my son lying on the hospital bed, with the cut still open. They gave us medication to melt the tumour, and my son used to take 40-50 pills each day, but it didn’t work, and the tumour just kept growing.”

Going forward in the interview, Johny Lever shared that his son was only 12 years old, and everyone of his age used to make fun of him. Johny, being a doting dad, did everything to make Jessy feel better. The family went on a trip to the US, wherein they met a priest. The priest, knowing Jessy's condition, suggested that they have a consultation at Sloan Kettering Hospital, the same place where Nargis Dutt was treated.

Despite the warnings from the Indian doctors and Jessy's mother being worried, Johny Lever arranged a consultation, and following this, a tumour removal operation took place. Johny, who described himself as not very pious, turned to God back then, totally. He recalled being indulged in prayer so much that he felt he was in the operating theatre, which gave his wife the idea that he had gone mad. Well, everything went smoothly and Johny said that he left all his bad habits afterwards, by thanking God for the second chance. In Johny's words:

"The operation took place, and I was so engrossed in prayer that I felt as if I was in the operation theatre, and my wife thought I had gone mad. Shortly after they brought him out, he raised his left hand up and signalled to me that he was okay. They had taken the whole tumour out, and all that was left was a tiny bandage on his neck.”
