Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan are proud owners of one of the biggest and most successful teams in the Indian Premier League, the Kolkata Knight Riders. The two actors, known for their shared spirit towards the eleven-men’s game, has worked tremendously hard to make their team reach heights. It was during the IPL 2024 when KKR emerged as the winners. Being friends before business owners, Juhi and Shah Rukh Khan have indeed shed impeccable partnership goals.
During her presence at an event organised by the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Juhi Chawla talked about the initial days of setting up their first cricket franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, for the Indian Premier League. The actress, who is the co-owner of the team with her husband, Jai Mehta and Shah Rukh Khan, revealed how the two men worked hands-on to finalising every little detail of the team themselves. In her words:
“Lalit had this great idea of starting the IPL, and he wanted that the owners should be glamorous. All I thought at the time was, ‘How nice that cricket and Hindi films are coming together’. Jai and Shah Rukh handled everything. It just came together.”

Moving forth in the conversation, Juhi Chawla spoke about the one decision taken by Shah Rukh Khan for the team, KKR, that she hated. The actress remarked that amongst other things being finalised by the actor and her husband, she simply disliked the colour scheme of black and gold that SRK chose initially for the uniform of the team. Sharing her her disappointment, she said:
“We didn’t know anything about running a cricket franchise, and I remember going to Shah Rukh’s home for meetings, where literally from putting the jingle together, to thinking of the uniform they’ll have, everything was done in house. I still remember, he made it black and gold, Shah Rukh, and I was not happy with it. I thought ‘what is this black and gold?’ Because black is considered inauspicious, isn’t it? But they worked more than I did.”
In another segment of the interaction, Juhi Chawla remembered the long meetings that used to happen for the Kolkata Knight Riders, at Shah Rukh Khan’s home, Mannat. The diva shared that since the actor was quite busy with his shoots most of the day, these meetings would generally take place late at night, and continue till the next morning. However, Juhi admitted dozing off half-way through these conversations most of the time, as a result of which she decided to stop attending them.

Previously, while attending an event, Juhi Chawla had revealed why she doesn’t watch KKR’s matches in the IPL with Shah Rukh Khan. She explained how the actor used to vent out his anger on her, when their team didn’t perform well. In her words:
“It is not good to watch a match with him because when our team is not performing well, he vents out his anger at me. I tell him to tell that to the team and not me. So we are not the best people to watch the match with. I think the same goes for a lot of owners. They all can be seen sweating while their teams play.”
