Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan is all set for his theatrical debut, Loveyapa, with Khushi Kapoor. However, unlike most star kids who are often seen cruising the streets of Mumbai in luxury cars, Junaid has quite literally taken a different path for his commute. Ahead of his film, the actor shared a hilarious anecdote from the time he accidentally bumped into his father at a traffic signal while travelling in an auto-rickshaw.
Junaid Khan, often spotted commuting in auto-rickshaws or walking back from the market, prefers simplicity over luxury. In a chat with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, he revealed that he avoids luxury cars due to Mumbai’s traffic and parking issues, calling autos a more practical choice. He explained:
"In a city like Mumbai, an auto is the best way to travel. If I take a car, I’ll get stuck in traffic and have to find parking. It’s just a practical choice. Itna bhi log mujhe nahi jaante (People don't know me that much). Only once, an auto driver recognised me."
While Junaid enjoys not being recognised and having a normal life away from the shutterbugs, there was one instance when he almost got recognised. During the conversation, he recalled a moment when he was commuting from Andheri to Bandra for his theatre rehearsals. At the same time, his father, Aamir Khan, was returning from Yash Raj Studios in his Mercedes. He shared:
"Once, I was travelling from Andheri to Bandra for my play’s rehearsal. At the same time, my father was returning from Yash Raj Studios. At one of the red signals, his car stopped right beside my auto."
The two coincidentally stopped side by side at the traffic signal. Junaid was busy on his phone when Aamir rolled down his window and casually greeted him. Junaid greeted him back, and as soon as the light turned green, they both moved forward. But the interaction did not go unnoticed by the auto driver, who was clearly surprised at the chance encounter. Junaid refused to acknowledge Aamir as his father and instead chose a different story. He recalled:
“I was busy on my phone when he rolled down his window to greet me, and I greeted him back. As soon as the signal turned green, we moved forward. The auto driver was shocked and asked me, ‘Do you know him?’ I replied, ‘Yes, actually, we live in the same area. His mother and my grandmother belong to Banaras.’"
While Junaid has always maintained a low profile, it’s not the same with other star kids. His co-star, Khushi Kapoor, who is the daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, was also part of the interview. She shared that, unlike Junaid, her parents never even allowed her to choose an auto as a mode of transport.

Junaid Khan previously starred alongside Jaideep Ahlawat in Netflix’s Maharaj (2024), but Loveyapa marks his official theatrical debut. The film also serves as a big-screen debut for Khushi Kapoor, who was last seen in Netflix’s musical, The Archies.
