Jyotika shares how she left films at 28, to manage her kid's dabbas at home

For the unversed, Surya and Jyotika had met in 1999 when Poovellam Kettupar was being filmed and the actor was trying to make his mark. Suriya was impressed by Jyotika's dedication towards learning the Tamil language and found it attractive. It created a spark between the two. Jyotika, in a recent interview with the Screen, shared she and Suriya had focused on parenting when they were at the peak of their career. She agreed that kids were their top priority at home and they were fine with leaving fame outside. In her words:

"I guess we leave the superstardom outside the door when we enter home. There, we are just parents of our kids. And yeah, the dabbas… definitely the prominence is given to our children. It’s more about what’s going in their school dabbas (tiffin boxes) in the morning. One dabba leaves early morning at 6 o’clock with him to school while the younger one’s food goes at lunchtime at 12."

For Jyotika and Suriya kids have been the main focus

Jyotika, going ahead in the interview, shared that she and Suriya have always been concerned about the kids. She said that stardom was on one side, and she and Suriya left the superstardom outside the door when they entered the home. In front of their children, they are just their parents. They like to discuss what dabba will be packed for their kids.

Jyotika on returning back to films at 35

Jyotika, going ahead in the interview, shared her experience of working in South movies. She said she got to do some of the best roles and was extremely happy doing regional cinema. Jyotika proudly agreed to settle down when she was 28 and get back into the movie industry when she was 35. In her words:

"I have done some of my best roles there and I could only be glad that I was part of South films. Because I’m not sure if I had probably got those roles if I had worked in Hindi. In fact I was married and stopped working at 28 and then got back to films when I was 35. And I did see a lot of prominent roles coming up my way in Tamil where I played the protagonist."

Jyotika also shared that she got a warm welcome, and she did not have any complaints as she was happy with the way her career was shaped. On the work front, Jyotika returned to the Hindi film industry with R Madhavan, Ajay Devgn starrer, Shaitaan and was also seen in Rajkummar Rao's, Srikanth.
