Kabir Bedi was one of the most popular actors from the '70s and '80s where his charm, acting skills, and style became famous inside and outside the country. He was a part of popular films like Wo Kaun Thi, Sandokan, Khoon Bhari Maang and more. However, when the actor was winning hearts with his stellar performances on-screen, he simultaneously dealt with the tension around his personal life. Especially the veteran actor's open marriage with his first wife, Protima Bedi and her issues with his then-girlfriend, Parveen Bedi, made things difficult for him. In a new interview, Kabir recalled the same and shared how the situation became difficult for him.
Kabir Bedi recently sat down for an interview and opened up about his open marriage with Protima Bedi, which made headlines. He revealed that they initially started with a traditional marriage setup, which gradually became strained over time. Consequently, open marriage was their last option to save it.
The Mohenjodaro actor mentioned that Protima left him and their kids to pursue a career in Odissi dance and he didn't stop her. Instead, he focused on looking after their kids. During this sensitive phase, he grew closer to Parveen Babi. He left home, and his marriage fell apart. However, it triggered another tension between Protima and Parveen, which created issues for him. Recalling it, he said:
"Parveen was always bothered by Protima because she believed that Protima wanted to get back together with me, and she was very certain of that. So, anything to do with meeting Protima caused terrible scenes. But I was like, I have to meet Protima. I cannot not meet her. I have children with her. I have to see the children."
In the same conversation, Kabir Bedi talked about the bond between his kids and Parveen Babi. He stated that sometimes, when he was with Parveen and his then-wife, Protima had to go out, he took care of their kids. Despite her presence, the Suhaag actress didn't look after them. However, they did visited her and talked to her. Kabir said:
"I wanted time alone with them as well. So it was a difficult situation, not easy to handle. But I dealt with it. In the middle of a career, dealing with emotions, dealing with the needs of the children, creates a huge strain, a huge pressure."
Kabir Bedi's personal life was equally famous as his professional life. He first tied the knot with Protima Bedi in 1969. They had two kids, Pooja, who is a columnist, and Siddharth, who died by suicide at 26. A few years later, he began dating Parveen Babi. After their breakup, he married fashion designer, Susan Humphreys. After their divorce, he gave another to love and tied the knot with Nikki Bedi, which had the same late.
