Kabir Bedi Recalls About His Life After Son, Siddharth's Suicide: 'Mai Tabaah Ho Gaya Tha...'

Bollywood's veteran actor, Kabir Bedi, has been through a lot. From being hailed as one of the most desirable men in India to conquering International space with his good looks. But soon, it all faded, and he had his own share of emotional turmoil and financial struggles. However, the most difficult phase was when he lost his son, Siddharth to suicide. 

Kabir Bedi talked about his son's passing and how his life changed after it

Recently, in an interview with BBC New Hindi, Kabir Bedi shared a deeply personal revelation. He recalled how his son tragically passed away in the late 1990s, which coincided with the same time, he was battling serious financial difficulties. Kabir described the challenging time as a phase when he was 'ruined'. He said:

"Main tabaah ho gaya tha. Not just financially, but emotionally also because it came at a point where my financial investments went against me. At that time, my son passed away so it was such a time in the late 1990s that I didn’t know what I was doing."

Kabir shared that he was giving an audition, but he kept losing work, and the situation kept getting worse. However, soon, he realised that if he didn't took hold of the situation, then he would be on the streets. He said:

"I would go for auditions and I couldn’t understand what I was saying. I lost work, opportunities and the situation just kept getting worse. Barbaad ho jaunga, sadko pe aa jaunga main."

Kabir Bedi's son, Siddharth's death

In 2022, at an Aaj Tak event, Kabir Bedi talked about his son, and that he was dealing with schizophrenia, a rare mental disorder. He did his best to prevent his son from committing suicide, but he couldn't and this left him guilty. He said:

"I suffered great losses due to bad investments. All of this happened when my son was dealing with schizophrenia. I tried to prevent my son from committing suicide but I couldn't and I felt guilty. At the same time, I went through financial disasters. I would go to auditions and did not know what to do. I lost a lot of work due to that. I was emotionally devastated and from there how I built myself again is all a part of my journey."

Kabir Bedi was born in 1946 in Lahore. He is one of the few Indian actors who achieved International stardom, mostly in Europe and Hollywood. His role, which gave him a lot of stardom, was in the Italian TV series, Sandokan. He even played the villain, 'Gobinda', in the James Bond film, Octopussy. He has even made appearances in American shows such as The Bold and the Beautiful. In Bollywood, he is known for his films Kurbaan, Kacche Dhaage, Khoon Bhari Maang, and more.

When Kabir Bedi talked about his first marriage with Protima

Kabir Bedi, who was earlier married to Protima, shared that they marriage had ended long time ago. However, they decided to stay together for their kids. At the same time, both of them wanted to have affairs. This led them down the path of an open marriage. However, keeping it up turned out to be more difficult than expected.
