Kajol's Kids, Yug And Nysa Want Her To Do More Films Like 'Papa', Ajay Devgn, 'There Is Nobody..'

Kajol is all set to enter the horror universe with her upcoming film, Maa. She is one of the most loved actresses, having had an immaculate career of over three decades. However, Maa will be an entirely new journey for Kajol as she has never stepped into the world of horror before.

Kajol revealed her children, Nysa and Yug Devgn, want her to do more films like their father, Ajay Devgn

Kajol is entering an entirely new territory with her upcoming release, Maa. The trailer for the same was released on May 29, 2025, and it showed immense scale and grotesque horror. Now, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Kajol revealed how her children, Yug and Nysa, reacted to the film. The film shows how a mother fights off a powerful demon to save her daughter, so it was only fair for the actress to give her fans an insight into what her children think of the film.

While Kajol has been a dotting mother to Yug and Nysa, it seems that they are equally close to their mother. In the conversation, Kajol revealed that her children have seen the trailer and that she hopes she can get them to watch the film. She added that while her daughter, Nysa, might not like the film as she is not a fan of horror, she would still try to get them to watch it. When asked if her kids had any opinion on her work, she shared that they have some strong perspectives on the type of roles they want her to do and stated:

"Oh, they have always had opinions. Fortunately or unfortunately, that opinion has not changed. They are very clear about it: 'We can't watch you crying on screen; you should do films like Papa does. Do Golmaal!' They want me to do films that only make them laugh, and there is nobody crying, no glycerine is used, and nothing happens to me. I wonder what is this film where nothing happens to me, and I have to do nothing. Why am I in this film?"

Kajol revealed how her parenting style has evolved over time

In the same conversation, Kajol talked about how her parenting style has changed over time. Maa marks Kajol's second film with motherhood as an integral part of her character after Helicopter Eela. She revealed that she was much like 'Eela' in real life. However, that has changed with time. Further, during the interview, she also drew a comparison between her parenting style and her mother, Tanuja's and shared that although the 'basics are the same', she differs from the veteran actress. She was quoted as saying:

"My mom had a much stricter style of parenting. It was a lot more regimented than our version. I lived with my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. It wasn't only one person who was in charge of you. Anyone who was over 21 in that house was in charge of you. I am different from them, but yes, the basics are the same. Both of them love me enough not to want to do anything drastic."

Kajol on being selective about her films and what made her agree to do Maa

Kajol has been extremely selective about the type of films she does in the past decade, only appearing in eight films so far. Kajol added that since India has such wonderful and fabulous stories, the tale of 'Maa Kali' and 'Raktabeej' was her favourite she agreed to do the film. She further shared how her experience working in the film and how her loved ones have been reacting to the film and stated:

"I wasn't that unsettled by it, probably because I did it," says Kajol, while talking of that scene. However, she is quick to add, "But everyone around me had the same reaction (makes a disgusted face). They said, 'I can't see you like this'. But that's what horror is, and that's why it will be particularly effective."
