Kajol Felt Shah Rukh Was 'Rude' And 'Mean' During Their First Meeting On 'Baazigar' Set, 'I Don't..'

Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan are among the best on-screen couples in Bollywood who have entertained the fans with their admirable chemistry in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and My Name Is Khan, among others. But unlike the expectation, the duo's interaction didn't exactly start on a smooth note. Although Kajol is good friends with Shah Rukh Khan now, the actress, in a recent interview, opened up about how she found SRK to be 'rude' and 'mean' after their first meeting on the set of their 1993 film, Baazigar.

Kajol reveals Shah Rukh Khan asked her to shut up on their first meeting 

Kajol sat down for a conversation with Radio Nasha Official and recalled shooting for Baazigar when she was just a little more than 17 years old. She revealed that they were shooting on the first day of the year, and she didn't have any problem since she wasn't used to attend New Year parties. However, everyone else on the set had a hangover and came to the set without getting an ounce of sleep because SRK liked to shoot on the day. He believed that working on the first day of the year meant one could work every day for the rest of the year. Recalling how she asked about the Don 2 actor's whereabouts, Kajol said:

"I was talking to the cameraman, my makeup man and hairdresser. I am jabbering away. Meri awaaz bagair mic ke kahan kahan pahuch jaati hai. After a point, I said, 'Ravi dada, yeh kya khadoos actor hai aap ka'. Bechara Shah Rukh chashma pehnke apni lines padh raha tha."

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh, who was quietly sitting across the room, was focused on reading his script and didn't react to her calls. Amused by his silence, Kajol walked up to him and tried to strike up a conversation with him. She asked why he was so rude. However, the superstar was in no mood to talk with her and asked her to shut up. Sharing how she was left upset, Kajol told:

"He said, 'Can you please shut up for a minute? Somebody shut her up, for God's sake. I felt that was so rude and mean. Here, I am trying to be nice and friendly. Of course, that led to a great friendship. I don't think he even remembers half of it. He would just say that she was a blur."

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol shared why they didn't date each other 

In an old interview with NDTV, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol were asked if they would have dated each other in case they were single. In turn, Kajol shared that she doesn't know if the possibility would have been true because she had already started dating her now husband, Ajay Devgn, within six months of beginning the shoot of her first film with Shah Rukh. On the other hand, SRK was dating Gauri before he even came to Mumbai. Giving a humorous edge to the conversation, Shah Rukh said:

'I was also seeing Ajay at that time."

Kajol's career so far 

Kajol is the daughter of veteran actress, Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee, who made her debut with the 1992 film, Bekhudi. She stopped studying and began shooting for films like Baazigar, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.. and more. The actress took a break after the film and embraced motherhood before returning with films like Fanaa, My Name Is Khan, Dilwale, Tanhaji and more. Kajol was last seen in Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Sheikh starrer Do Patti. She also has Maharagini, Sarzameen, and The Trial season 2 in the pipeline.
