Kajol had married her co-star-turned-lover, Ajay Devgn on February 24, 1999, and the couple had embraced parenthood four years after their wedding, in 2003. Post welcoming their daughter, Nysa Devgan in their lives, Kajol and Ajay had become parents for the second time when seven years later, their son, Yug Devgan had entered their lives. Since then, Kajol and Ajay have been cherishing every single moment as husband and wife, and also as proud parents to their two bundles of joy.
Ahead of Mother’s Day 2020, Kajol in an interview with the Hindustan Times, reminisced the phase when she had conceived her firstborn, Nysa Devgan. Kajol recalled, “When I became a mum, my first thought was that I just could not fail. I knew that this was one test I was going to ace and one exam I was going to top because this really was a question of life and a wasted life.” Admitting that it was soon when she had realised that motherhood is no cakewalk, Kajol continued, “It took me at least six months to realise that I couldn’t do it alone and I would need everyone with me to help bring up my kids.”
Kajol firmly believes that her daughter, Nysa Devgan and her son, Yug Devgan have positively impacted the person and the actor in her. Kajol remarked, “My children make me want to be a better person and sometimes a more fun one. Being a mum added a lot to who I was and it has only made me a better actor.” Revealing why her children haven’t watched too many of her films, Kajol added, “Both my kids love to watch films but haven’t seen many of mine. Firstly, because I haven’t made that many and secondly, according to them, I cry too much and I make them cry too much, so it’s heavy going.” (Also Read: Kajol Reveals Devgans' Cooking Tales, Says, Husband, Ajay Devgn Hasn't Stepped Into The Kitchen Yet)
Kajol is the daughter of veteran actress, Tanuja Samarth and filmmaker, Shomu Mukherjee. Speaking of her bond with her mother and how it has always been her decision and not her mother’s, since the age of 16 whether to do a film or not, Kajol remarked, “My mum and I always had the best relationship and it has only gone on from strength to strength. We don’t discuss whether I should do a film or not. It has always been my decision and mine alone from the time I was 16.” Divulging details about her relationship with her mother, she said, “My mum gave me a lot of advice and I didn’t listen to any of it till I reached a problem and then her advice would ring in my ears at the just the right time and I knew what the right thing to do was at just the right time. So, I ignored everything till I needed it.”
Giving a special message for the mothers ahead of Mother’s Day, Kajol stated, “The most important thing that your children will remember forever is how you loved them. All the scolding, the feeding and the care will be forgotten. So, don’t forget to make them feel loved every single day.”
On April 20, 2020, to mark Nysa Devgan’s 17th birthday, Kajol had posted a video which comprised of some cherishable moments of her daughter. As Nysa had turned 17, her doting mother had comprised her solo pictures and the ones with her family in a video and had captioned it as “Almost an adult. All of 17 and part of my heart always. Happy birthday to the most beautiful girl in the world! #allgrownup #lovemybabygurl.” Kajol had beautifully explained her feelings as her little baby girl is growing up with a song, My Little Girl by Tim Mcgraw.
