Kajol Reveals Why She Doesn't Watch Her Own Films, Says Doesn't Like To See Them, 'I Am More...'

Kajol is one of the most gorgeous actresses in the Bollywood film industry. She is a phenomenal actress and has been winning many hearts since the '90s. Currently, she is making headlines for her upcoming film, Sarzameen, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan in lead roles. For the uninitiated, the film will be released on July 25, 2025, on JioHotstar. Ahead of the film’s release, Kajol sat for an interview and discussed various aspects of her character, but one statement was particularly shocking to everyone.

Kajol reveals the real reason for not watching films

Kajol recently sat for an interview with IANS and shared why she doesn’t watch films. When asked whether she watches her own films, the Maa actress revealed that she doesn’t like to watch her movies. However, when Kajol was asked about which of her movies she would enjoy watching on big screens, she mentioned that she wants to see both Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha in theatres once again. In her words:

"No, I don’t. I am really bad. I don’t watch films, period. I am more of a reader, so I watch films very rarely. Well, DDLJ has been released, and I would like to see Kuch Kuch Hota Hai back in the cinemas again. And maybe Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha – I think that’s one film that I would like to see on screen again. I think it would be fun to watch Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha again."

Kajol talks about her character in Sarzameen

In the same interview, Kajol also talked about her character in Sarzameen. The Maa actress shared that she resonated with her role in Sarzameen on a personal level. She also praised the starkid, Ibrahim Ali Khan, who earlier made his debut with the film, Nadaaniyan, co-starring Khushi Kapoor. Kajol also mentioned that her role in Sarzameen has many layers to it and is thus looking forward to its release. She was quoted as saying:

"Sarzameen called for an emotional depth that really intrigued me as an actor. The role resonated with me on a very personal level. I was happy to see Ibrahim bring to life such a complex character, and I am very excited for him. My character in Sarzmeen has so many layers – she is the emotional core of the story, and Kayoze’s vision has portrayed it on screen in a compelling way. I am looking forward to the release of the film."

Kajol's upcoming projects

Earlier this year, on June 27, 2025, Kajol featured in the supernatural film, Maa. The film was directed by Vishal Furia and was produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande. Kajol will next be seen in the film Sarzameen, directed by Kayoze Irani. She also has Maharagni, co-starring Naseeruddin Shah and Prabhu Deva, in the pipeline. Kajol has also joined hands with celebrity author, Twinkle Khanna and will be seen together on the talk show, Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle.
