Ayan Mukerji's film, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has a separate fanbase. The 2013 film was a tremendous success at the box office as well and it won millions of hearts. For the unversed, the film was produced by Hiroo Johar and Karan Johar and it starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, and Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead roles. A few months back, the film completed ten years, and the whole cast of the film celebrated the same. The glimpses of which left everyone in awe and dragged all down the memory lane. However, in a recent interview, Kalki Koechlin, who played the role of 'Aditi' in the film, revealed that she was warned against doing YJHD.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Kalki Koechlin shared that a few people warned her not to sign Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The actress also revealed the reason behind the same. Kalki revealed that as it was very early in her career, it was all a part of strategising. Speaking along the same lines, Kalki shared that people used to tell her that she would be drowning in this film as there are two Bollywood biggies, Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. She also shared that people warned her about her part in the film being edited out. Elaborating more on the same, Kalki stated:
"I was told by quite a few people not to do Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Because it was early in my career, and it's all about strategising. People told me, ‘You’d be drowning in this film.' There are two main big actors so your part would probably be edited out. They had those thoughts and doubts."

In the same interview, Kalki Koechlin shared why she did Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The actress shared that when she met Ayan Mukerji she changed her mind. Talking about the reason, Kalki shared that the director used to tell her childhood stories about 'Aditi', 'Bunny', and 'Avi' and how they hung out. The actress also shared that after meeting Ayan, she understood that 'Aditi' was a boisterous and exciting character and would definitely light up the screen. Kalki revealed:
"The way he spoke about Aditi (her character)… he started telling me childhood stories about how Aditi, Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor), and Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur) used to hang out. He had the whole thing in his head. I knew Aditi was a character that would light up the screen. She was boisterous and exciting. I knew it was a good character after meeting him."
There's no denying the fact that through all these years, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani continues to be one of the favourites of the audience. For the unversed, on May 31, 2023, YJHD completed its ten years. And on this special day, the whole cast of the movie had a blast. It was Ayan Mukerji who took to his IG handle and dropped some wholesome pictures from the party.
