Kamini Kaushal, who played the role of Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's 'dadi' in Kabir Singh, passed away at the age of 98. It was at her Mumbai home that the veteran actress passed away. Her last rites were performed in front of her closest family members, and netizens were shocked to see the absence of Bollywood stars from Kamini's funeral rites. It was an emotional atmosphere at the Worli crematorium as Kamini's elder son, Vidur, performed the last rites rituals as per Hindu customs.

Kamini Kaushal was laid to rest on November 15, 2025. Back in the 1940, she was the highest-paid star and in the 1950s was seen next to cinema legends such as Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor. Sadly at Kamini's last rites only her three foster dogs were present. Kamini's son, Vidur, was seen patting them as they paid their last respects. Netizens noticed the absence of Bollywood stars and called it a 'dark place'. Users wrote, "How come no one is there"?

Other fans of Kamini Kaushal penned "Om Shanti" while it was heartbreaking to see Kamini's son, Vidur next to his mom during her final journey. Kamini had started doing character roles back in the 1960s and at the age of 95 she played her last role in the movie, Laal Singh Chaddha. Kamini completed 76 years in the Hindi cinema. Kamini's mortal remains were taken to her Mumbai home for her final journey.

Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani offer condolences to Kamini Kaushal

Kamini's Kaushal's family had organised her funeral, and her co-stars from the Kabir Singh movie, Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, sent condolence messages. Apart from Kiara Advani there was Anupam Kher, too, who shared condolences messages for the family. Kamini was seen in like 70 movies when she worked in the industry. She made her debut back in 1946 with Neecha Nagar and had won the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film. It had taken place at the Cannes Film Festival, and Kamini's movie was the only Indian one to get the Palme d'Or.

Kamini Kaushal never wanted to do movies

Kamini has done many blockbuster movies such as Do Bhai 1947, Shaheed 1948, Nadiya Ke Paar 1948, Ziddi 1948, Shabnam 1949, Paras 1949, Namoona 1949, Arzoo 1950, Jhanjar 1953, Aabroo 1956, Bade Sarkar 1957, Jailor 1958, Night Club 1958 along with Godaan. Kamini's noteworthy movies also included Do Raaste, Anhonee, Prem Nagar and also Maha Chor. Well, do you know, Kamini never wanted to be a part of the movie industry, and in a 2017 interview with the Screen, she shared:

"I was studying at Lahore’s Kinnaird College for Women then, and my first reaction was ‘no’. I had heard from somewhere that the film industry was not a good place for girls." 

Kamini Kaushal had a connection with Dharmendra

Kamini, back in 1948, was the lead actress of the movie, Shaheed. It was the first movie that veteran actor, Dharmendra ever saw. Kamini had shared screen space with Dilip Kumar and back then Dharmendra after seeing the movie was inspired to become a star. Kamini was known to be the oldest living actress until her demise on November 14, 2025. She was also known to be a Raj Kapoor heroine.
