Actress and parliamentarian, Kangana Ranaut, has finally moved into her official MP residence in Lutyens’ Delhi, a grand bungalow whose walls hold century-old stories and history. After becoming a member of the parliament in 2024, Kangana chose the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya 2025 to organise her griha pravesh ceremony and start this new chapter in her life.
On April 30, 2025, the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, Kangana Ranaut decked herself up in a classic red-and-white saree, her regal look completed by a neat bun and traditional gold jewellery. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kangana shared some memorable moments of the day, one of them being a video where she was seen carrying a kalash on her head as a part of the housewarming rituals. Giving fans a peek into her new life as an MP, Kangana captioned the clip as:
“Finally got some time to shift to Delhi MP House.”
Kangana also shared some photos of her temple space inside the home. In one of her IG Stories, Kangana wrote, “It was not easy to restore a century-old MP house”. And this really shows the vintage aesthetics of the rustic bungalow. The interiors of Kangana’s new place speak volumes. The vintage charm of the place, the checkered floors, memory-filled walls, soft-toned furniture and cosy corners clearly reflect her style.
Her close family, including her nephews, attended the griha pravesh puja at Kangana’s new residence. Post-rituals, the family tucked into some good old Delhi chaat. One of the snapshots showed her enjoying sweets with her sister-in-law, Ritu Ranaut.
A few days ago, Kangana Ranaut made headlines after claiming that the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board charged her a whopping Rs. 1 lakh for her unused Manali home. At a political gathering, she expressed her dismay, slamming the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh's government due to the huge electricity bill she received at her Manali home, where she doesn't even stay. "Iss manhine mere Manali ka ghar ka ek lakh bijli ka bill aaya, jaha main rehti bhi nahi ho. Itni durdasha ki hui hai. Hum padhte hai aur sharmindagi hoti hai key eh kya ho raha hai. Par hamare paas ek mauka hai, aap sab jo mere bhai behen hai, aap log ground pe itna kaam karte hai."
The board responded to Kangana’s claims, stating that the bill was actually Rs. 90,384 for two months, and clarified that the Emergency actress had not been paying dues regularly. Also, the electricity load at her property is allegedly 1,500% higher than that of a normal household.
For those unaware, Kangana became a Member of Parliament from Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) after contesting the 2024 elections with the BJP. While politics has kept her on her toes, she hasn’t taken a break from films either. She was last seen in her self-directed political drama, Emergency, where she played the former PM, Indira Gandhi. Kangana has already wrapped up her next film, a thriller with R Madhavan, directed by A.L. Vijay. The duo reunites almost a decade after Tanu Weds Manu Returns, and fans are hyped for this iconic reunion.
