Kangana Ranaut is one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood. She has proved her mettle in acting in many films and even won the National Award for the same. However, her father did not support her when she decided to give up on her studies and pursue a career in acting. But, Kangana was determined and decided to give it all up, while her father wanted her to pursue higher studies. In an interview, she opened up about the same and revealed shocking details.
In a conversation with Manoj Muntashir, Kangana Ranaut opened up about starting her acting career in Bollywood and shared her father's reaction to the same. She mentioned that while her father encouraged her to have big dreams, he had a huge problem when she expressed her wish to join the theatre. Talking about the same, Kangana said:
“He encouraged us to have big dreams, but it is a different story that when my dreams got too big, then he was the one who had the biggest problem. When I told my father that I don’t want to study and I want to do something different, perhaps theater, he said just one thing. He said that I am a normal person who lives in a society, if you want to do this, hamein tyagna padega. These were his exact words.”

Kangana further said that her father told her that he was her guardian and he could guide her, but things were out of his control if she decided to move to Delhi or Bombay. However, the actress recalled that her father declared to her that he would disown her as she had already made up her mind. Calling her father 'her real hero', Kangana said that he taught her about the truth of the world, and added:
“He said that from whatever I know, I can guide you, because you are my daughter and I am your guardian. But if you want to do something by yourself, and you don’t want to study, and do theatre in Bombay and Delhi, it is beyond us. He said if you want to do this, then you do it on your own. Then we will give you up 100%. I am more than certain that if I had not taken control of my life, then I would have not made it this far.”
Kangana further mentioned that while she was recalling the incident politely, her father, however, had said it with rage. She also shared that even though her family members are well educated, they are traditional, and they believe that women should not cross their ‘Laxman Rekha’. Kangana added:
“He said it like how Rajput families say, ‘Get my rifle, I will shoot her’. I am saying this in very civil words. Our society is still patriarchal and in a kshatriya household, women are warned not to cross their Laxman rekha. That tradition is still there that if you cross the Laxman rekha, then you will be shot with a rifle.”

However, Kangana shared that her success confused her father because he had never expected it. Adding that now her father is really proud of her, the actress mentioned that he got confused when she won a National Award. Kangana said:
“I got very successful and this confused him. Because he was expecting that this way of life wouldn’t work, so when I became successful, winning national awards and everything, that shocked him.”
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut was last seen in the film, Tejas.
