'Landlord' To Release On OTT, Know Cast, Plot And What To Expect From Vijaya Kumar's Kannada Movie

Regional films have often created magic. In recent times, movies like RRR, Kantara, Baahubali, Lokah and more have dominated headlines. Well, the Kannada cinema is all set to win hearts with the movie, Landlord, directed by Jadesh K. Hampi and starring Vijaya Kumar. Now that the film is gearing up for its digital release, read on to know what to expect from the Kannada film.

When and where to watch Landlord?

The much-awaited Kannada movie, Landlord is all set to release on the streaming platform, ZEE5. According to a report by KoiMoi, the film will premiere from March 19, 2026, onwards, aligning with the festival, Ugadi. For those who do not know, Landlord hit the theatres on January 23, 2026, and the audience absolutely loved it. It is worth mentioning that viewers will need a subscription to the OTT platform to watch the Kannada movie.

What to expect from the film, Landlord?

The Kannada movie, Landlord is set in a village of Karnataka during the 1980s. Life looked simple at that time; however, it was actually controlled by power and included hidden tensions. The core narrative of the movie revolves around 'Rachayya' (played by Vijaya Kumar).

He is a calm man, who does not speak a lot but observes everything that happens around him. When tension rises in the village, 'Rachayya' starts to feel the weight of injustice. As the film moves forwards, 'Rachayya' is forced to speak up against the injustice going around him.

Talking about cinephiles, they can expect a realistic and emotional rural story. Apart from a typical commercial movie, this is a thought-provoking Kannada film. For those who haven't watched the film, it is not a fast movie, rather the makers took time to build each and every character and subplot, so that the viewers are able to connect with it.

Apart from the strong plot, viewers can also expect amazing performances by Vijaya Kumar and Rachita Ram. For those unaware, apart from the lead, the movie also stars Raj B. Shetty, Rithanya Vijay, Umashree, Bhavana Rao, Rakesh Adiga, Achyuth Kumar and more. It is also worth noting that the village setting makes it real and raw for the viewers.

Vijaya Kumar and Rachita Ram open up about their film

Recently, the lead actors of the Kannada movie, Landlord, Vijaya Kumar and Rachita Ram opened up about their roles in the film. During a recent conversation, Vijaya shared that his character, ‘Rachayya’ internalises more and speaks less. Further, he opened up about the emotional arc of his character. He was quoted as saying:

"Rachayya is a man who internalises more than he expresses. The emotional arc is subtle but deeply impactful and portraying that quiet strength was a meaningful experience. I look forward to audiences discovering his journey on Zee5."

During the same conversation, Vijaya’s co-actor, Rachita Ram, who also plays an important character in the movie, Landlord revealed that her character stands at the center of many defining moments. She also explained that honesty is something that the cinephiles will be able to connect with. In her words:

"The simplicity of the setting contrasts with the intensity of the emotions. My character stands at the centre of many defining moments, and the honesty in the storytelling is something viewers will connect with."
