Comedian-actor, Kapil Sharma is a popular face in the entertainment industry. From being a contestant on a comedy reality show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge to hosting one of India's most loved comedy shows, The Kapil Sharma Show, his journey is an inspirational one. Kapil has created a mark for himself in the industry and rules millions of hearts. Now, in an interview, Kapil Sharma opened up about his early days in Mumbai and mentioned all the other things he had tried before landing in comedy.
For the unversed, Kapil Sharma had married his longtime girlfriend, Ginni Chatrath, on December 12, 2018, in Jalandhar. As Kapil and Ginni were to complete one year of their marital bliss in 2019, God had blessed them with the best gift of their lives. Kapil and Ginni had embraced parenthood two days before their first wedding anniversary and became proud parents to a baby girl, Anayra Sharma. Kapil and Ginni's family was completed with the arrival of their second child, Trishaan Sharma, in February 2021.

In an interview with IANS, Kapil Sharma opened up about his initial days in Mumbai. He shared that he had explored all kinds of career options before getting a break in the entertainment industry. Recalling his struggling days, the comedian revealed that he had first tried to join the BSF, and said:
“People will laugh if I tell them how I started. Maine pehle BSF ke liye try ki, fir army mein gaya, my father and uncles were part of the police force.”
Well, there is no denying the fact that Kapil Sharma has a magical voice, which can easily soothe our souls. In the same interview, Kapil revealed that his father had recognised his talent for singing and had pushed him to pursue music as well. He said that back in the day, his father had wanted him to do something substantial with his life. Kapil shared:
"But papa kaafi musicians ko jante the and ended up introducing me to them. He wanted me to do something big or maybe creative in life."

Kapil also shared how the first time he had come to Mumbai with his friends, he would roam around Juhu Beach. The comedian revealed that they would look out for directors on the streets. However, he also expressed gratitude towards the dream city, which made him a star and a brand. He said that Mumbai gives scooterwalas like him an opportunity to present themselves on a big stage. In his words:
“I remember the first time I came to Mumbai with my friends. We would roam around Juhu Beach looking out for directors as if they had nothing better to do in life. From then to now - things have changed so much. That’s Mumbai, that’s what it does. It gives scooter walas like me an opportunity to stand on a stage and entertain people. Mujhe yaad hai mai bilkul naya tha Mumbai mein and was unaware of what was coming my way, making my way through the bustling streets of Mumbai, only dreaming of being where I am now.”
Kapil Sharma has made a name for himself over the years in the entertainment industry. However, his wife, Ginni Chatrath had a big role in making him successful as she was very supportive to Kapil during his difficult times. She was with him in every phase and had stood beside him day and night, making sure that he was comfortable. In a conversation with The Man magazine, Kapil had shared that Ginni was her student as he used to visit colleges and participate in theatre for pocket money. He had said:
“Ginni was in a girls’ college in Jalandhar doing her graduation, 3-4 years my junior, and I was in a co-ed college studying for a PG diploma in commercial arts. For pocket money, I would participate in theatre and visit other colleges. She was a really good student of mine. Now, of course, she’s become my teacher after marriage! She was good at skits and histrionics, so I made her my assistant.”
