Karan Johar, whose name is almost synonymous with Bollywood now, has been making headlines recently for a huge sale. The director cum producer sold 50% of his stakes in his production company, Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawalla's Serene Productions. However, it's not the sale that has caught everyone's eye, but the cryptic message he shared after the same.
Karan Johar recently sold half of his stake in his production company, Dharma Productions, to Adar Poonawalla's Serene Productions. The partnership between the two companies was a strategic move towards creating engaging content not just for India, but for a global audience.
Quite naturally, the sale has been receiving a lot of attention from industry observers and fans alike. However, now a new move on Karan's part is turning heads. Today, on October 27, 2024, Karan took to Instagram to share a cryptic note on his story that could be read as:
"Competition happens at the bottom. The people at the top are collaborating."
For the unversed, Karan Johar's Dharma Productions hasn't been having the best luck with films recently. Several of its recent releases have failed to resonate with audiences, resulting in underperformance at the box office. These struggles, combined with the rising operational costs and the industry's competitiveness, are likely what weighed in on Karan's decision to sell a part of the company his father, Yash Johar, had founded.
Dharma Productions' recent release, Jigra was embroiled in a ton of controversy. And so was producer, Karan Johar, who got involved in a cryptic war of words with Savi actress, Divya Khossla Kumar.

A day after the release of Jigra, Divya took to Instagram with a story about how theatres for the movie were empty and box office collections were being faked. She added an image of an empathy theatre with the movie playing on the big screen to the same. Her caption could be read as:
"Went to Citi Mall PVR for 'Jigra' show. Theatre was totally empty ... all theaters going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai, khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra".
Karan followed this up with a cryptic story of his own with a quote that emphasised that silence was the best answer for fools. However, Divya didn't let this go without a response. She took to her Instagram yet again with a story about how the truth only offended fools. In another story, she wrote that when one was accustomed to stealing what belonged to another, silence became a shelter.
What do you think about Karan Johar's cryptic message following the sale of 50% of Dharma Productions?
